Does anyone here do Curves or is anyone a member of the weight loss center called CURVES?

If so, do you like it?

And, have you noticed weight loss results and think it is beneifical?

I used to be a member of Curves. I joined in January 2005 after finally facing the truth that I was 230 pounds (my highest ever). I stayed at Curves for a little over a year, and I really liked it. They had frequent competitions, which I loved...they kept me motivated. After I started SB and lost 40 lbs January-April 2006, I won their Biggest Loser contest, yay! :)

Anyways...it's a really nice environment for starting out. At my Curves, the workers were very encouraging and everyone was really nice. It's also convenient that you just go in a circle and you know it's only going to take 30 mins. That said, I felt that I outgrew it after awhile. I got sick of doing the same circuit everyday. I enjoy doing stuff with more intensity now. But it definitely got me going and got me into exercise! :)

I tried Curves, but for someone who has worked out a lot in the past (used to be athletes, etc) I found it lacked an intensity I need to feel good about my work-out. Luckily I had a free membership (My grandma works there!) so it wasn't like a total waste of my money.. it really works for some people and it's a good introductory thing. If you already like somewhat intense and "burning" work-outs it's probably not the right thing!

I joined Curves nearly two months ago. It is very boring. You just go around this circle everyday. You don't mix it up. I joined because it is an all women type of thing, but I can certainly see (and knew this when I signed up) that I wasn't going to last there much more than 3-5 months (I got the month-to-month membership).

It has been good for me in many ways, like getting started with doing more than walking and yoga. It has also helped me get used to go to a gym again and has helped me overcome gym anxiety. As a fat girl, I have been treated pretty badly my gym workers in the past. I guess once they get your money, they don't give a darn about you.

I recommend joining for a few months on a month-to-month, especially if you are already active. In my first month, I lost 9 lbs, 17.75 inches, and 5.4 lbs of fat.
