I don't know how long I'll keep up with this journal, but it never hurts to start one! :) Plus, the only support person I can go to is a friend of mine that is never home when I am, and when she is home, I'm at work, if I call from work she's sleeping...lol. She just LOVES when I wake her up. :) I might include some non SBD things in this, but for the most part it will be a diet journal. Maybe some of you can help me along with it without me having to wake up my friend to tell her I had a half a straw full of a mixed drink and I'm freaking ot over it...hehehe :) Anyway, my cat is Ginger, she's going on the diet with me too just because she's in the apt with me so she has to. She isn't really going to change her diet though, after all....all she eats is cat food and she sleeps a lot and she doesn't need to lose weight, well, because she's a cat and she's 8 lbs and tiny. But she's cute! :D Anyway, I've been on phase one of the South Beach Diet since 4/21/04. I started at 244, now I'm at 237. I still look disgusting. I'm a bartendar at a hotel, I'm sure losing the weight will get me some better tips, because under all this blubber is a really pretty girl!! LOL.....I'm losing the weight for my health, but you all KNOW there are lots of other benefits too....for me, it includes tips. :) I'm 26 years old.....hmmm, what else should I tell... Oh! A guy I work with lives almost right next to me in my apt complex, so we decided to go walking 4 days a week. The other days he cant go and I SHOULD go by myself. We'll see how that goes. So far, we've only gone once, and being on phase one, I got tired pretty fast. But we did walk for about 30 mins, then my butt was sore. :) This post is LONG, so I'll wait and post anything else later, or maybe tomorrow. :)

I have a cheapo scale, I think I need to buy a better one. Anyone know if the digital ones are best? The scary part is...what if the new better scale tells me I weigh more? AUGH!!!!

Hi hlayne!

Isn't it funny how people respond differently to others who are overweight? You'll still be the same person once you lose the weight, but you'll get better tips. I think we can all relate to that.

As for the scale, I think the main thing is to just keep using the same scale every time you weigh yourself. If you want to invest in a new one, the scales that tell you your body fat as well as your weight might be a good idea - that way you'll still see changes in your body even if the scale seems to be stuck.

Good luck to you!! You seem to be off to a great start!

ooo!! I didn't know some scales do that! I'm going to the store in a few mins to look at them, maybe I'll find one like that at a good price. :)

sounds like you are off to a great start. Keep up the good work. I would also measure yourself. Because sometimes the scale will say you havn't lost any weight but when you mesure yourself you have lost inches. It helps keep me motivated. Good luck :D ( I like smileys too)

I worked all day today. Had to work the desk at the hotel insted of the bar. I think they are going to have me bartending less and working at the desk more. Anyway, I had to get up early but I still had time to make some eggs with cheese and canadian bacon, yum! I took some souffle stuffed chicken that I had leftover for lunch and what SUCKED was my manager bought lunch for everyone from a sandwich shop and of COURSE I couldn't have any. I never have any money, so I HATE turning down free food..lol. Anyway, I took a peanutbutter cookie to work too and it was too big so I only ate half and I gave the other half to my manager and she said she'd PAY ME to make her two dozen of them!! WOO!! There is always free food at work, almost every day. It drives me CRAZY. Came home and had some tilapia and green beans for dinner. I don't always get in the snacks that I'm supposed to have, but I REALLY wanted some SF Jello after I finished dinner, but DOH! I didn't have any made, so right now I'm just waiting for the jello to be ready cause it sounds SO GOOD. :) Also, I've only got one more day on phase one, so I made out my grocery list and I'm going to visit the grocery store tomorrow to buy some fruit and a few other things to start phase two on Wednesday! First thing I'm having is a big navel orange!! I can't wait! I'm going to read up on phase two tomorrow to make sure I understand it really well. :)

Oops, I forgot...Ginger had some cat food and water with some catfood for dessert. Maybe I should give her a treat because she hasn't cheated at ALL on the SBD.

I did get the new scale, and this morning was the first day I started using it. A little upsetting because I found out that my old scale was 5lbs off in a good direction, so it looks like I gained 5lbs over night but I really didn't..lol. I stood on the new scale and it said 240.8 and I stood on the old scale and saw 235. I guess I've just been off the whole time by 5 lbs, but it's ok. The new scale tells body fat % too and it told me 38% which is actually better than most calculators tell me. It sends some electric signal up through your feet to get a body fat reading....VERY cool!! So now if I don't see me losing weight, I could still see the BF number going down. I'm not big on taking measurements, I just figure my clothes will get bigger and bigger.

I don't like getting up this early, I'm so tired. I don't have any trouble sleeping, but I do have trouble falling asleep. Anyone else have this problem? Anyway, time to go make breakfast, then it's off to work!

I went grocery shopping tonight because tomorrow I start Phase TWO!!!!!! Spent over 80 bucks which is CRAZY for me in one trip. :) I don't feel like I bought much that was different, some uncle sams cereal, wheat flour, oat bran flour, and these wheat flat bread things that are kinda huge so I cut them all in half and put them in the freezer. :)
Oh and I bought two apples an orange and the STRAWBERRIES were on sale!!!! I can't decide what to have tomorrow!!
