Your mind might not... but eventually your body will be. ;)
right now the way my body feels, it hates me for even going...
did you know your armpits could ache?
Pffff, that's just the beginning. It gets better. Trust me. :) |

| I'm right there with you Nessa! I had my first personal training session at the gym this morning and I HATE my trainer at the moment. Well jokingly of course. One of the guys I work with laughed at me a minute ago when I vocalized hating him and mentioned that if he was standing in front og me and I could lift a dumbbell, I'd throw it at him (the trainer that is). Yup the armpits hurt... and biceps, triceps, chest, abs, thighs, butt... |

So far I have loved it, well except for telling the guy today that I was done with him halfway through one of the exercises. I had the assessment on Monday evening with one of the managers and then a regular session this morning with a trainer. Both were very personable, motivational and helpful. But it certainly can happen that there is a personality clash, the manager even mentioned that if that happened they'd pair me up with someone else, so it is not that unusual.
After my assessment on Monday I was so sore yesterday that I didn't think I'd be able to do much today, but he pushed me just enough that I was able to do everything he asked and only had the need for him to assist me in lifting something once on the last lift. Of course I can already tell I'm going to get paybacks from my muscles.
I really need the accountability with the trainer. I know most of the exercises he had me do today, but I tend to get lazy and not watch my form and give up when it gets a little challenging instead of pushing through. With someone there I was able to keep my form and not give up when I thought I couldn't do any more. |

Dragon, let me guess.
The trainer had you do lunges. |

Yes that was one of the things he had me do one set on each side with no weights then one set in each side holding 10lb dumbbells in each hand. One bright point though is that he said I had perfect form on every exercise he had me do, so that made me happy.
I don't have my training notebook handy at the moment so I can't tell you what else he had me do, I'll come back and post that later tonight.
Edit to add:
The trainer had me do: bicep curls (30lb barbell), deadlifts (10lb dumbbell in each hand), lunges, weighted lunges (5lb dumbbell in each hand), squats (10 pound dumbbell in each hand), tricep ext. (one 10 lb dumbbell), shoulder press (10lb dumbbell in each hand) and crunches with my legs raised so my shins were parallel with the ceiling. |

i have a suggestion - try buying a pedometer (i got my omron from walmart's health/beauty department near the home blood pressure gizmos).
see if you can increase your steps by 40-50% and work up to 10,000/day.
i do work out, but i still wear my pedemeter each day whether it's an exercise day or not. it's so motivating to see how many steps i've done. i log it into my calendar in the bathroom! |
