I had a surprise pregnancy six weeks after I started the Beach. I had no idea that I was ovulating, having not done so in months. It ended in a miscarriage, though. So I guess if you don't want to get pregnant yet, then you should use protection to be sure.

It's not that I don't want to be pregnant...I would love to be pregnant right now! I just don't want to have complications because of my weight. I want to have a healthy pregnancy! So I gues I will have to talk to the hubby and see what he says about all this stuff! Thanks for the advice!

Oh, I totally understand, but if you want to get healthier first, you might want to use protection, unless you are charting your cycles.

oh thank goodness! i just decided to start SB again since doing WW since January and only losing 8-10 pounds :x . i eat right and i've started to exercise and the weight isn't coming off fast enough for me so here i am. i'm g;ad to be able to communicate with other cysyters who understand all the symptoms i have,

i've been feeling really irritated lately and i hope that it goes away with the SB diet. i go to a new doc thursday and i don't know how much she knows about PCOS but she may send me to an endocrinologist to get a fasting test. i am not on metformin but i was before i got preggo in 2005. i think taking that and fertility blend helped me get preggo. i was also following a 1500 calorie diabetic diet at the time so who knows what it was. we want 1 more child and i would like to lose weight before it happens.

looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hello,

It is nice to see others who struggle with the PCOS too. I have a mircle son who was conceived in Germany 18 years ago. Hard to believe he is turning 18 next month! I do regret that I couldn't have more kids when I was younger. Now I am looking forward to retiring early (in 12 years at 50) and riding my Harley around the states.

I hate the way my body gains weight so quickly, and it sure is hard eating more often. I am starting over in week 1 phase one after gaining back 50 pounds in the last 8 months! Eating once a day will do that for me!

I know I will spend the rest of my life struggling to keep control of my weight. And I know this diet 'life changing eating habits' will make the difference. My doctor finaly put me on Metformin, which is helping to regulate my cycle more. I actually look forward to menopause so I don't have to monitor my body anymore. No surpises, and no pain.

Glad to meet others who struggle with the same problems.

books--PCOS can be so hard to live with, and the weight gain..........

Anyway, the met should help you with the weight loss or at least with maintaining your weight. When I went on in 2003, I lost about 35 in the first year without trying. Of course, it got better with South Beach. It is so old hat for me now that I can't imagine eating any other way. I have my cheats, but as long as I stay with the program the weight comes off.

Thanks. I have actually gained since starting the Met, I think we need an increase. And I finally admitted to myself that I need to get back to my SBD ways.

books--PCOS really does suck at times, and it is easy to get sidetracked with diet and exercise. It sounds like you are ready to attack it again, though. Awesome!

Just wanted to say hi.......I too have PCOS.........I have a miracle son who is now 3 1/2. After three ectopic pregnancies and dealing with PCOS I am no longer able to conceive. I have no tubes left after three surgeries from the ectopic pregnancies. I have to say I am BLESSED with one child even though I wanted to have more. I am just starting SBD and I am so thankful to see others who understand PCOS. It's nice to know I'm not alone..........

Christine: I also wanted more. I am so lucky to have 1 who turns 18 next month. I guess I just wasn't meant for more. Only the good lord knows.

My friend is a carrier of a genetic disorder. They found out after baby 2 was born with the condition...who died 12 hours later. She had another healthy child and decided to tie her tubes. When baby 3 turned 5 she was sick. She went to the doctor, and sure enough pregnant! They checked her tubes and found they were tied, burnt and medically they can not explain this pregancy.

It isn't PCOS, however you just don't know when you will have more children. Excepting that I won't was and is very hard for me. I am very jealous of those who are so lucky to just have kids...and yet don't want them. Maybe because I want them so bad?

Just wanted to stop in and say 'ello. I was diagnosed with PCOS about a year ago. My weight has been slowly creeping up, facial hair appearing, etc etc. I'm on Yaz to control cycles and supposedly limit new velous hair growth. Now my weight is the issue. I need to lose 20 or so pounds and can't seem to make it happen on a regular calorie restricted diet, so SB seems to be the best thing!

I also have PCOS, I am glad to have found this forum.. i have posted in others b4... I was wondering if anyone had just started on glucophage XR. I took it for along time and then stopped when i bcame pregnant with my daughter 3 years ago.. I just started again in april... i have been trying so many things to lose weight but nothing has helped I started SB on April 14 and only lost 5 pounds.. i have not lost any since.. Phase 1.. I haven't had a menstrual cycle since november of last year... and i always feel bloated and my ovaries actually hurt... i am not sure if the glucophage is trying to stabilize my hormones but i feel miserable.. Smurlene, I saw on your post that you are taking glucophage as well what is the other medication you are taking... Any helps with a daily menu would help as well... i think my body is getting use to eating the same stuff...
