Hi RJS!
Congratulations on your 15.5!! --that is a great feeling to get the first 15 off--People began to notice I lost weight when I hit 15 lbs instead of 10 lbs!
Thanks for the encouragement! IN fact when I got home from work I started right for the refrigerator but decided instead to try on my silver cocktail dress and although very snug I was able to zip it up. I looked at my problem areas in the mirror and realized a splurge at Easter brunch may have to wait :(
What is weird is the dress I tried on is an 8P and felt much tighter than my size 6 and they are the exact same style of dress by the same deisgner--just a different color.
I am not a huge fan of Easter candy but every now and then some chocolate seems to be irresistable! This is definitely PMS because all I can think about is chocolate!!
UGH! I am going to get myself some chewing gum and a glass of water! Hopefully this will pass soon
Take care

I had a good day. Yoga was totally amazing - even more so than normal. I did however cave at the grocery store and get some ice cream and cookies. :roll: Ah well. I am still having more good days than bad. I am working on it and I *WILL* get there again. All in due time.
I wanted to go out for a walk but boy was the weather ever terrible today. Rainy and cold and even some hail. We are due for some snow tomorrow, Friday and maybe even Saturday. Can I just cry for a second? I want spring already darnit! Patience, I guess, but it won't be soon enough.
otter: YAY for being able to fit into some of your thin clothes. That is so awesome. GREAT job hun!!
It could very well be water weight from the wings and party food. Particularly the wings - very salty little buggers. Take a second to breathe and relax. There you go - good idea on trying to limit yourself to one portion. I think if you take it easy on Sunday and do well the rest of the day, a small splurge will be fine.
You CAN get through this and you CAN do this!!
YAY for being able to get that dress on!
~~~~~
rsjmommy: I mainly do Svaroopa. It is a very relaxed, easy going yoga. The main premise behind it is releasing the tensions in the core. It is so wonderful that I leave the class floating because I just feel so good. I have done Kripalu too which is described as mediation in motion. Kripalu is wonderful too and is a bit more involved than Svaroopa - so to speak. Neither is a "fitness" type yoga but your body will still reap many benefits from it.
WTG for the loss so far - you are doing great! WTG on breaking that darned stall!!
Just do the best you can on vacation. Think of how far you have come and let that motivate you to continue to do well. If you feel the need to munch, carry or keep some cut-up veggies around. Things that keep well like snap peas or baby carrots. You can easily keep some nuts in a snack-size baggie in your purse too for emergencies. Above all else, have a truly wonderful time and we will see you when you get back!
~~~~~
Tits McGee: Wow - Cardio-Yo, huh? It sounds interesting. I bet that is some workout!
Oh wow, sorry to hear about your back. Back injuries are no fun! Just do what you can and please don't hurt yourself. We all understand if you can't get your workouts in! Take it easy and heal fast. |

HI Kirian thanks for the encouragement!
Here is an update from yesterday...
The food went well--I was starving ALL DAY at work and all I wanted to do was eat chocolate and junk yesterday. I realized my PMS is really strong and the best part is I am able to recognize that I can control my PMS not the PMS controlling me.
Instead of feeding the "hunger" and "cravings" I let myself feel hungry--and when I say hungry--I wasn't shakey, dizzy or lightheaded--I was hungry for junk food and I KNEW that a piece of cheese or a small SB snack was not going to take the edge off. Does that sound weird? I had had my mid afternooon snack and I was craving, and I just waited the craving out.
Anyway, I have now hung my cocktail dress up on a hook by my bed--the one that is too tight to wear out. This is what I look at in the AM, after work and before I go to bed. I try it on everyday after work and it makes the temptation to snack after work and before dinner seem less tempting.
This Easter Brunch will be at the Officers Club on the Airbase. Usually they have oysters, fresh shrimp, an omelette station prime rib,and the usually "brunchy" food. The have great fresh fruit options and some decent desserts. Most importantly, they will have champagne and Lent will be FINALLY over!!! :D :D :D :D
Our reservation is at 1230 so I am going to eat a small breakfast maybe some steel cut oats and eggs--that usually fills me up so I am not ravenous when it is brunch.
I may do a plate of seafood for appetizers with some veggies. It is a hard call between prime rib and omelette--I love omelettes but eat eggs everyday. Since we are going out for DS's birthday on Tuesday I may skip dessert at brunch so I can eat some dessert with him at Outback on Tuesday...
Oh so many decisions!
Looking forward to running today--I think I am getting faster in my interval training!
Hang tough team!!

Hi All
glad to see so much motivation
I am doing so-so, workout wise great, after coming short on one cardio alst week, I am alreayd done with 4
Stop coutning calories, don't have time, it was an experiment anyway, and I think I know where the problems are. I have to start with a good breakfast, and all the free goodies at work meetings and such always get me. Saying no is impossible, but I am going to try to do some portion control, which seems to work, if I only have 1 cookie or 1 piece of brownie it will be OK. I am kind of uninspired with the cooking this week, any suggestions on something quick and easy? maybe I'll try the cheesecake bites, have to go get the cheese!! my fridge is empty and I have too much work to be able to go to the store.
Better get back to work!!
keep it up everyone!! |

Hey Team Kirian!!
TGIF!! Can you believe this challenge is almost over???
I am really glad this was available--I can't think of a better way to jump start a healthy lifestyle than what we did.
Not only did I make a committment to daily exercise but this challenge also forced me to get into daily journaling which is a really great tool as well as connecting with other folks (support)
On top of that I did a cut/paste on alot of the recipes other challengers posted--so at least I know some of these recipes were fit for human consumption. Personnally I eat about the same thing every day for B and L but variety at dinner is neat..and the bean cakes....I am going to try this soon
Off to circuit class--wish me luck--sounds like it is going to be painful
Happy early Easter

| It's been a busy week for me b/c school started again. I have better control over my diet w/ just one cheat last night. I've started running again- on inside track not treadmill and it's going well- I'm hoping to take this outside once weather gets warm. I'm working the Easter weekend so I'm bummed :cry: but at least I won't be tempted with delicious Easter goodies. Everyone- enjoy the holiday and let's get back on Monday for the final Extreme Week :) |

Ahem *clears throat* I have an announcement to make. As you all know I have been having a bear of a time with sugar since before this challenge started. Today is officially day three of Phase 1 for me!!!! I have had 2 1/2 days without ANY sugar. I am so proud.
I am still craving like mad so I am likely going to do this for 2 weeks. I was on the darned sugar binge for over 2 months - closer to 3! It doesn't seem like I have done much damage weight wise and for that I am lucky. I did start Phase 1 at 239 - 19 pounds up from my lowest of 220. :? However, after 2 days I am at 231 now!!! I am excited, renewed, and inspired. I KNOW I can do it and I will do it!!
Here's to ending the challenge on a GREAT note!
otter: No problem! How awesome that you are able to realize you *can* control your PMS. Good job!
The Easter Brunch sounds delish. Most of it beachy too. I hope you have a nice time. Good idea on having a small breakfast, that way you won't want to inhale the whole buffet! :lol:
Ya know...I really can't believe that it is almost over! I will be sad to see it end and I will miss you guys! I have enjoyed this team a lot. You guys are so supportive of each other and that has just been wonderful to see.
I love hearing how good this has been for you and I am so excited that it has helped you! You have made great progress and should be proud.
~~~~~
Lupe: Just keep doing what you can! I hear ya on the breakfast. If I don't start my day out with a good breakfast the rest of my day is very difficult. That really is a key for me and something I discovered recently.
For quick and easy I love Pook's Chicken Sybil. It is a fun recipe and you can add spices and ingredients to really make it your own.
~~~~~
agusia: I am glad to hear you have better control over your diet! That is great. WTG on starting the running again too. |

Hi team
Today we ran around doing errands and shopping. I made it to the gym and DH is cooking us fish tonight--I just want to take a nap!!
I didn't think I would today, but I went to the gym and did a power cardio session so that was great. I may hit the gym after church and before brunch so I can really enjoy brunch!!
Kirian~Way to go on getting through the sugar craves. I know that is hard--I have been in the crave cycles before and just getting through the first days are tough!!
My PMS cravings are killing me and the kids have Easter candy in the kitchen!!! UGHHH!
Last nite I went through my closet and gave away most of my big clothes--most of my 12's are WAY too big!! I also tried on my favorite cocktail dress last night and it fit even better...then I put on a girdle :shock: and all the lumps went away....shhhhhh :roll:
I will be sad to end this challenge next week but it has kept me motivated to get through "The Biggest Loser" at my gym...that will take me to 2 weeks before my cruise and I think I will make my goal!!

Hi everyone!
Welcome to Week 6!!!
I had a nice planned splurge for Easter brunch--everything tasted great and I finally got to drink some champagne!!!
I did an extra work out on Sunday prior to the brunch so I could minimize the damage from dessert--
(see my journal if you want to know what I ate)
I am going to continue on with my gym challenge and I hope that gets me closer to my cruise goal--I am down another 1.5!
My 2 minor splurges this week will be birthday dinner with my son on Tuesday nite at Outback--maybe dessert? and a Baltimore Orioles baseball game on Sunday (beer and popcorn??)
I can't go to my circuit training class today--I have a meeting! GRRR! :twisted:
I will miss being in a challenge with SB friends--I hope there is another one this summer--May I think will be too hard for me to do!
Have a great last week

| Ugh! I am doing horribly! Since I hurt my back, I haven't been able to work out at all (I am going through gym withdrawals) and as of last Thursday, I have been eating crap like it's going out of style! I think it's stress at work, my dog got hurt and I had to take him to the vet on Friday, Easter candy, excuses!!! Today is a new day and I am trying to put the last few days out of my mind. |

Hi gang!
TMG-sorry you are having a rough week with your back--hope you are getting back on track now that Easter is over. One week to go and you still have VEGA$!! How is your cocktail dress looking? Mine is still annoyingly snug (unless I wear my girdle) :twisted:
I feel absolutely sore. Yesterday I worked out and stretched. I thought I had stretched enough but today I have had terrible pain in my legs from my shins to my quads--I am hoping it is not shin splints--that would be bad. I gutted out a 35 minute cardio session this evening after work. There is no way I would have made it through circuit training or a cardio with running sprints :(
I am going to stretch out alot tonight and put some icy hott on my legs to see if that helps.
TOM will be here Tuesday or Wednesday so I hope I can get through this pain before the cramps come.

OK, my goal for today is to not eat any easter candy OR that last piece of carrot cake in the fridge!! If I can do that I will be happy.
Tomorrow I have an appointment for a fitness assessment at the university's wellness center. (So I want to feel good going in, not hopped up on sugar!) I am kind of excited because they review my current health history and measure:
+ resting blood pressure
+ height/weight
+ body composition (% bodyfat)
+ cardiorespiratory endurance (aerobic fitness)
+ upper body strength
+ abdominal strength
+ trunk flexibility
At the end, they do personalized fitness and exercise recommendations. I've never had some of those ^ things tested so it will be interesting to see if I'm already doing the things they will recommend. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Good luck to everyone this last week! Let's finish strong!! |

I am proud to report that I did not eat a single piece of Easter candy yesterday! (or that carrot cake in the fridge) I decided to not have any sugar until at least Friday (baby steps here) when we will be celebrating DH's b-day at one of the nicer restaurants in town (there aren't many).
I had my fitness assessment done today and was surprised at some of the results.
+ resting heart rate = 71
+ height/weight = 5'4"/134 lbs.
+ body composition (% bodyfat) = 15.7
+ cardiorespiratory endurance (aerobic fitness) = 33.0 out of 55.0 (whatever those numbers mean), but it was in the "Fit" category on their scale.
+ Upper Body strength = Biceps=48 out of 72, Push-ups=25 out of 36 (again in the "Fit" category
+ abdominal strength = 20 out of 75 (In the "Fair" category) :oops:
+ trunk flexibility = 38 out of 66 ("Needs Work") :oops: :oops:
Total Fitness Score 70/100, So what I got a "C"??
I'm going to copy this to the Fitness Forum to ask some specific questions. |
