You should always keep a check on your hormone level, read thread below.

It wouldn't hurt to get ALL your hormone (thyroid too) levels checked along with your cortisol levels. They all need to be in balance or weight loss can be slowed or non-existent.

Clinically low cortisol is called Addison's Disease and high cortisol is called "Cushing's Disease" (you can google these.)

Always a good idea for a complete physical before starting a diet/and or exercise program.
However, more often than not hormones are not a cause for weight gain, stall, or ease of loss......
(I think we'd all like to "wish" it was a hormonal problem that could be fixed with a pill. )

Stress, can it make you fat?

Cortisol levels can be tested with a saliva test. Mine was taken at 4 different times during the day and showed I had extreme adrenal fatigue.

However, luvs_torun is right in that a pill alone will not fix the weight problem---it may however help your health and well being.

I have a friend who has a low thyroid and does take pills but she said that still doesn't affect her weight at all so even still some pills still won't make you lose weight but it is good to check your hormones and thyroid.

I am low thyriod, and have taken pills for two & a half years for it. The whole time, I believe I kept actually GAINING weight... that is, until I started SB and basically cut out all the sugar (as well as other junk). I've been on Sb for 4 1/2 months, and lost 17 lbs, and that's with having a slow thyroid (which also means a slow metabolism, adrenal fatigue, and foot problems that made it so I couldn't exercise a whole lot.

It's always a good idea to get the tests done if you think somethings going on.

Hey- I just saw that you (the origianl poster) live in Layton. I grew up in West Valley, and my hubby and I still have relatives that live all over that area!!
