I'm not having any! I am on Day 9 of Phase 1, and I have gone twice in nine days. I haven't had one in at least three days now.
After doing a little research yesterday, I found a thread that linked constipation to Iron consumption. I know that's it. After looking on my multi vitamin and seeing that I was already getting 100% of my Iron for the day and thinking about those yummy, huge, baby spinach salads I have been eating after my yummy spinach, turkey bacon, and egg quiches for breakfast every day, I'm getting a LOT of Iron.
The one thing the thread did not address was how do I stop it? Can I take a laxative for now? Which one should I take? Should I start taking a fiber supplement instead? Do I have to stop eating so much spinach? Is there a multi with less Iron?
HELP! |

The iron may or may not be the problem.
I also take a multivitamin and eat 2 huge spinach salads daily (lunch and dinner) along with other veggies at meal time. I've never had that problem.
IMO... if it's been that long.... you may want to give your doc a call. |

Back in P1, even with all of those veggies, I went from regular to not! Metamucil was my friend until about 3 weeks or so into P2. Once my body got used to the veggies, fiber (grains) and fruit all was right with the world.
Also make sure you are getting all of your water in. You would be surprised how much of a difference water consumption can make!

Thanks for the info ladies...
Luvstorun- Consider yourself lucky! My mom just told me that I even became constipated when I was a baby if she used a formula that was enriched with iron.
I didn't take my multi today, and while I did have my spinach quiche for breakfast, I only had romaine at lunch. I feel like the problem might clear itself up in a couple of hours
Anneg, thanks for the advice. I'm picking up some Metamucil on my way home. I can't wait until fruit time! |

I had the same issue. I'd never been "regular" but it got worse, even with the beans and veggies and going to a 7-grain cereal once I went to P2. They also say drink plenty of water and exercise, which I was doing.
My doctor recommended that I have 2 servings of Activia yogurt a day instead of milk. There is Activia Light, with 70 cals, 0 fat and 8g of sugar. In the morning I mix one Activia with my hot, 7 grain cereal and usually have the other as a post-workout snack. They say give it 2 weeks, but I got (and have stayed) regular within a week. |

| I guess I've not really been "regular" my entire life, but I've found that ever since I gave up red meat and pork (in '91), I don't really feel like I clean my system out well ... if you know what I mean. However, both times I've been on SBD my BM's have slowed even more. I do credit mine to a lot of spinach and cheese (I joke w/DH that this is my "cheese diet"). I too take the Sugar Free Metamucil and as stated, lots of water helps too ... maybe it's just because you're on the can more frequently [shrugs shoulders]. Before SBD, coffee worked like a charm, but on SBD, it doesn't seem to work for me. |
