I too was a somersizer and lost 30lbs in 6 mons. It all came back!
Suzanne talks a lot about "cheating" and now that I'm on SB I understand the difference between a "cheat" and a "treat". I "cheated" way way too much and the more I cheated the easier it became to cheat. I never allowed myself a "treat". Eventually the weight crept back on.
The food combining is possible to do, just not easy nor fun. That is one part I love on SB, you can have toast with your eggs. Another thing is the fats! Somersizing gets you into some pretty heavy fats. You can find yourself eating a ton of "junk" and still not feeling satisfied, and all you really wanted was some nuts or peanut butter (which are not allowed, because of food combining). Heavy cream is in almost everything, and fatty cheeses too. I just couldn't take the fat anymore, and I now I think of all the butter I ate.....It makes me sick to think of it. I'm so glad to have found the beach...This is where I'm going to stay.

Hi Everybody, :)
First, I will say that Suzanne has quite a talent for most sauces, spice mixtures and such. Her Memphis BBQ sea-salt rub is all I use when I grill meats on my Foreman grill. The Somersweet and mostly everything made with it, unless it is a savory item, like the BBQ rub, is truly terrible. Her books are fun, well written and friendly and contain alot of great ideas, testimonials and decent recipes...as well as alot of advertising and self promotion of her product line and family pictures. And all her diet books follow the same format. If you are looking into switching to this WOE, let me suggest getting her book "Fast & Easy"
<p>
That being said I really did not like this diet. At first it seems liberal: any fruit exept bananas, alot of veggies, whole fat dairy and the use of whole grains. Seems great until you start the food combining. On the first level, where you will lose the majority of your weight, you cannot eat grains with any fat at all; Pasta without cheese or meat, fat free cottage cheese with cinnamon on fat free whole wheat bread, certainly not my idea of a satisfying meal.
I don't really know if I buy the whole food combining concept, to me it is more trouble than it is worth. When you go deeper into her book and see more restriction, certain forbidden foods she labels "funky foods" (food made of a combo of pro, fats and carbs) like: nuts, avocodos, olives, and soy, to name 4. Fruits, the first course, must be eaten on an empty stomach and in the first level with nothing else. You must wait, an hour, I think, before eating anything else.
Alot of people follow this and have had success. Good luck

I haven't tried all of the products, but I will say that the dessert cookbook is excellent for "diet desserts" and even non-dieters were impressed with the quality of the desserts I made with sommersweet. I do admit that the "homemade" desserts have a lot of steps, but the chocolate cake was to die for! After a year on the beach, some of us need a little splurge now and then, but be careful with the serving sizes- :shock: a whole cake is not considered diet by anyone's standards.

I tried the somersizing for about 4 yrs. At first I did lose and I bought into the books and the food combining. I can't take the carbs alone. That made me really nervous until I ate some fats with it and then I felt better. I then got to where I was gaining weight again. So I went to the sbd and lost 20 lbs and I love the plan alot better. This is where I can eat the foods I like without worrying about combining.
