So what is this link all about? Surely you can't lose 9 lbs every 11 days otherwise it would be the greatest new fad and replacing southbeach. Anyone ever click on the advertisement link on the message board and see what it's all about? Anyone ever try it?

It's a calorie shifting diet. Could anything be more work than that?

I haven't really ever read anything about calorie shifting... does it work? What's it all about?

In really simplified broad strokes: you "trick" your metabolism into thinking there are a lot of calories coming when in fact there aren't? Maybe it's not that drastic -- you keep your metabolism guessing at the very least. My experience is that normal life provides plenty of opportunity to "zig-zag" your calories. Counting every day seems like hell to me.

I was wondering the same thing Marco...and I have to agree with you
oldpjmas, it sounds like waaaaay too much work to me.

Eating lots of steaks hot off the BBQ and lots of veggies to accompany it sounds sooooo much more appealing!!!!

You don't have to count anything on that plan. You simply pick the foods you like and a week's worth of menus are generated for you. There is a forum with tons of people who've done extremely well on that program.

You're still eating lots of lean proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. The main difference is that once every 11 days you get to have a "cheat" meal.

Just because there are not many posts from people on an SBD board doesn't mean that no one's tried it.

Hi LadyT....thanks for the information. It's great to accumulate knowledge and ammunition!

I am veryyyyyyyy impressed with your weight loss.....WOW. Did you do that on SB or the other plan or a combination of both? AMAZING!!!!

If we were to follow SB....and had a cheat meal every 11 days, would that work? I am fairly new to SB and am doing well with it so I don't want to change much right now but I do want to get other suggestions too. I was stunned when I first weighed in and learned that I had to lose 70 pounds!!!!!!! I would have sworn....no more than 35-40....LOLOL. What a joke! I want to be just like YOU!

Do you have any great tips for staying really excited and motivated? I am trying to be active here on the boards because I truly believe that when we give of ourselves, we get soooo much more back in return. Other than that....what would you suggest?

Gosh, you inspire me!

Thank you! If SB is working for you, DEFINITELY go for it!!!!!! I wouldn't change a thing about it. Unless you're absolutely sure about it, combining diets may not be a good idea. I am not advocating it at all.

Please know that what I'm about to say it what worked for me. It may not neccessarily be the thing for anyone else. I always tell people to find what works for them and stick to it.

*That ends my disclaimer, LoL!*

I did SB for a little while until I hit a plateau while I was still at a very high weight, so I decided to do the calorie shifting thing and have not hit a plateau since!

Since losing weight hasn't really been much of a rough journey for me, I don't have any real tips or anything. The ones I have are undoubtedly ones you've already heard many times before. The only ones that I can come up with are:

Eat only until satisfied and not a forkful more. This was absolutely the HARDEST thing for me to learn. I used to eat simply because food tasted good and/or because it was there, whether I was hungry or not. I started out by eating only at meal times and then slighly less than I would normally eat. I though it was a bunch of hooey, but that thing about eating slowly allowing your brain time enough to let you know you've had enough is sooo true! Contrary to what my mom used to say, there is NOTHING wrong with having leftover food on your plate, LoL!

Find an exercise routine that is comfortable and maintainable for you. Chances are you're going to have to stick to it for the long haul and that's much more doable if it's something you don't mind doing.

Get in your water. If I go a couple of days without enough of it, my body holds onto it like a sponge.

Don't skimp on the good fats. Aside from the health benefits, my biggest problem with this is that cutting them will leave your skin UNBELIEVABLY dull, dry, and lifeless looking.

Don't focus too much on food. While it is very good advice to pay attention to lables and to be conscious of nutrition, stressing out over every little thing will drive you crazy!

Allow yourself a treat every now and then. All things in moderation. If you eat healthy most of the time, there's absolutely nothing wrong with a little indulgence...just be sure not to overdo it. Telling yourself that you'll NEVER eat so called "bad" foods again, is unrealistic.

DO YOU! Don't let what other's (including me :P ) say or do have any influence on what you know works for you! Find your niche (and this does take time) and stick to it, regardless!

That's about all I have. Told ya it was stuff you've already heard before
 It really works, though!

I would have had to count. Because I was eating 3500-4500/day. To zig zag that takes considerable forthought. Much too easy to run 1000 shy one day.

I like alot of what you are saying.
Its nice to hear people say "do what works for you" besides always hearing "WE DONT COUNT CARBS!!!! "

Really if someone wants to be on SBD and count their carbs as well...LET THEM.. as long as it works.

AHH..i feel better.
Sorry I am not trying to come off as a prick, but just had to share :D
