I am on day 3 of P2.... I like P1 better. I knew what I could not eat. I think someone else wrote that they felt guilty when the ate something that had been FORBIDDEN for the past 2 weeks. I feel like that even when I look at certain foods.
I have to report that I have lost inches. I plan on weighing myself exactly one month to the day I started the plan.
You have to be careful in weighing yourself. Unless you are using the same scale, wearing the same clothes, weighing yourself the same time of day you will fluxuate (sp??). Been there done that.
I use clothing I purchase 4 years ago when I dropped 50 pounds as my guide. That works for me better than a number on a scale.

ok ive been on the beach for about a month and a half and have lost 20 libs. i have like 56lbs to loose in total. im a guy, and started on july 30th, and i was 216 then and am now (september 14th) 196.
my problem is that ive been using this scale from the start and last week it was telling me i wasm 191, then 2 days later it told me i was 188. i questioned it so i went out and got a better scale that tells u ur BF percentage and all and on THAT scale it said i was between 196 and 198, which i believe bc the scale is better quality. my delema is that as far as my 1st ORIGINAL scale goes i was 198 about 2 weeks ago and now i feel like ove gained instead of lost. im thinking to start with maybe i was heavier than 216? however, i dont know now that ive been loosing steadily or what. i think ill wait it out for 2 weeks or so and see how it goes?
i run about 3 and a half miles everyday on the treadmill in 40min, which translates into 450 to 500 calories. and im thinking of adding 200 crunches a day also to step up my workout.
as far as eating i eat:
2 eggs w ham usually in the mornings. (sometimes steel cut oatmeal w splenda and spymilk )
then a snack, apple(im on phase 2) or cheese stick
i have some soymilk also inbetween
then lunch is some meat, eitther, ground lean beef, chiclen breast, tuna , or turkey burger (wo the bun). and a salad.
then a snack (a cucumber, or 30 pistacios, or 3 turkey and swiss rollups)
then dinner, usually meat again w some veggies, like broccoli, onions, oe peppers, or a salad. or 1/4 brown rice, or some ww spegettii.
when i want something swet i usually eat the NSA fudgecicles, or some chocolatre reddie~whipp (whipcream) bc its nothing but air in a can and taste good. or some dark %60 cocoa semi~sweet chocolate chips.
i honestly think im doing good but for some reason i feel ,ike im not loosing like i should be being that im working out alot and eating right. i feel like im gaining instead of loosing. my weight was 195 3 days ago on the NEW SCALE and now its 198. im scared to gain back the 19 or 20lbs ive lost and i STILL HAVE bout 36 lbs to go! i know if u have alittle to loose u loose slower but for me 56 lbs is alot! . the 1st 2 weeks on ohase 1 according to my old scale i lost 14lbs. so most of the weight came from that. please someone HELP!!!! or give me some feedback!!!! thanx!!! |

Since you are relying on faulty data, ignore it.
Continue what you are doing -- it is obviously working.
You should be having more grains at this point, though -- don't be scare of them. |

hey everyone...Im new to the board. However, not new to southbeach. 4 years ago I lost 75 pounds...and put 50 back on. I am noticing this time though, that I am not losing as rapidly. I have only been on P1 for 6 days now...and I am already discouraged.
My start weight was 214.4 ....wednesday it was 211.4 and today(saturday) it is 212. I have been fast walking everyday and following the diet to a "t'. Am I just being neurotic? I guess I just need some words of encouragment.
My partner is on a diet as well. We have the same exact starting weight....however, she is doing a similiar diet the only difference is that it does not allow cheese of any kind and no nuts. She has lost 7 pounds in 5 days and isnt even exercising like I am. UGHHHH!!
Anyway...any words of wisdom would be great |

| eclypse, If you are working out you could be putting on some lean muscle mass and this would make you wiegh more. Your daily meals sound just like mine. I've been on SB for 19 days and lost 10 lbs so far. I know the feeling about not wanting to eat the wrong things and putting the weight back on. One thing I remind myself is that we didnt put the weight on overnight and surely we wont lose it overnight, be patient and keep doing what you are doing. One thing I found is my body reacts differently to certain foods. hang in there :) |

| i go to the gym every day and i started this diet! I weigh 138 now and when I started I weighed 136! I'm so frustrated! I don't know what I am doing wrong! I do know I am eatin a little more nuts but is that a lone the reason why I am gaining? I don't know what to do? I am on the p1 day 11! I eat no bread, rice, fruit or any of the the foods to avoid! I have cheated 2 and other than that I don't know what to do! I'm so depressed! |

I have also jumped around in weight - up and down more than 5 lbs at a time. there has been discussion about this in the phase 1 forum and there are lots of things about this I think in some of the phase 2 forum on transitioning.
I learned that even if you are eating from the approved foods list you may not really be following the diet.
Somewhere here it tells you - 4.5 cups of vegies, 2 or so servings of dairy, a serving of beans, and protein a day.
1/2 cup veggies at bkfst, 2 cups at lunch and another 2 cups at dinner. Most people seem to make their mistakes with not getting enough veggies or skipping the dairy and beans.
You have to have enough carbs from veggies, beans, and dairy to allow your body to lose weight.
I am disappointed too - I feel jealous that others appear to be losing so easily. But from what I have read and how I feel (almost no interest in sweets or breads for the first time in my life) I am going to stop even thinking about weight and just see what happens.
Good luck to everyone - I hope you stick it out. |

| I am on day 8 of phase 1. I lost about 7lbs. But there were days which I did not lose weight for 3-4 days at a time, and then all of a sudden the weight was off. |
