Has anyone had problems with energy levels during exercise while on this diet?

I didn't even attempt exercise while I was on phase 1. Too weak! I was a couple of weeks into p2 when I was inspired to start exercising (right around Xmas), and I've been at it ever since.

Big time. I couldn't even finish my cardio workouts and my resistance training was pathetic. I had such bad muscle fatigue. I started phase 2 early and added a fruit and whole grain each day and it got much better. A lot of people say beans help a lot too.

Before I started I could walk at a really good pace for over an hour, but now I'm in phase one and I can only go for about 15 mins, so I just do that and then walk comfortably for another 15 mins so I don't kill myself. :) I'm sure my energy will get a boost in phase 2!

I have been able to exercise during phase 1...I do cardio for 30-40 min, and strength trainning for 30 min...I have not felt weak since I started, sometimes I do feel sleepy though.

I'm weak, too! My usual 30 minutes at high resistance on the elliptical has gone down to "i really want to quit now" by 8 minutes and fighting to finish, and this is at low resistance..I'm in p1, also. However, the weight is coming off!

I had a lot of trouble finishing my standard 40 min cardio workouts, but my weight training didn't seem to suffer much. I just finished week1 with a 4 workout week. I'm going to try to get 4 or 5 days in this week and be ready to rock when i get to P2. I've seen good results thus far so i can't complain too much about feeling sluglike on the bike or eliptical. That and it's been feaking hot (90's) here last week, so that doesn't help.

No problems yet - I am on day 6 of Ph1. I usually run on the treadmill for 2-3 miles 3x per week or so and have to do it first thing in the morning after drinking a glass of water.
I will feel tired and no motivation to do it if I put it off for the afternoon! |

In P1 I did notice a bit of a difference in my energy level and endurance. Things definitely got better in P2. With a drop in weight, my endurance for cardio work really took off! I noticed in P1 and P2 that if I was (or am) feeling particularly fatigued it is often due to not drinking enough water. To everyone feeling fatigued, please try boosting your fluid intake and see if that helps you!

I am in P1 and I've been so tired that I can't even do my daily 30min workout at the YMCA. My water intake has been kind of low so I'll increase it and see if it helps.

Tri-guy mentioned the running thread, though that appears to be dead now. But after reading it, I gave myself more license to eat carbs, and maybe it will help you?
I started weight-lifting and training for a marathon about a month ago (I've been SBing for about 2 months) and I had no energy whatsoever. I've been doing better since I've been a little more lenient (maybe too lenient!) with myself -- I allow myself to eat pasta, my favorite carb, the night before my long marathon trainings, and just about anything I want immediately afterwards. I'm in Phase II, so I'm allowed to experiment, right? vj |
