Would you rather have a job that keeps you interested and engaged but you have to go into the office, work long hours, but room for advancement...
or
one that bores you to tears, no room for advancement, kinda dead end but gives you a lot of time to do other stuff and you get to work from home.... |

I would rather have a interesting job...
I think if I didn't like my job it would makes me really unhappy in my life in general. Also like, I rather be poor and have no money with an interesting job than have a boring but $$$$$ job!
Well...also depends of the job... and also of the other stuff you want to do on your free time! |

The way I see it, if you have the job that is boring the perk of it being flexible will only last you for a little bit. Eventually you'll be so bored with your job that the negatives will out-weight the positives. Plus, if there's no room for advancement AND you don't like it then why would you want to be there?
Even if the other job takes a lot of work, if it's interesting and you enjoy it then the extra work should be worth it. |

I guess I'm the only one that picked "boring".
Only because, that's what I have right now. I'm not very career driven and there's only so much you can do as a secretary. They give me more work to do all the time... but I'm just so gosh darn efficient. ;)
What can I say? I'm a fast typer. :D
I don't want to have a "career" forever though... I want to be a stay at home mother. So, thus the reason for picking what I did. I'd much rather be a home body... so... I'm not the one you want to pick to work long OT hours! |

| I agree with you pookie! Well..for the most part. I think that if I could find something interesting and time consuming for now Id like that because I know in a few years time I plan on staying at home with my kids if financially able. Im temping for the most part in Australia I think, at least for the first few months. Think if I move around a bit it will classify as interesting  ...at least can change it up a bit. Besides...some places I would be placed are closer to the beach..can anyone say surfing/swimming after work? |

See, that's the thing. The job I have now is fine, and lets me work from home so i can go running, go to the gym, prepare beachy meals.... but it's just not something I really like. There is something I think i would like more, and I'm not saying I have any offers or anything, but I could take steps through networking, etc.
butttt....... I may regret giving up all this independence and freedom. And if it doesn't turn out the way I would hope then I'll be saying I could be working from home!!!
sigh. pros, cons... |

| It's all about your goals and priorities. I like my interesting job WAY MORE than my boring job. But the hours are longer and the people I work with are MUCH more demanding. But on the all I like it a lot more. It isn't so much the time flying as much as what was brough up before, when I felt bored and unfulfilled I was MISERABLE all the time. I was unstimulated and I got irritable and depressed, but now I feel a lot more energized. I feel like I have accomplished something and that gives me a sense of pride and well being that has an effect on my entire outlook on life. |

I picked "Interesting but lots of work," which is nice because I just got a new job like that. Plus, it pays well with good benefits, and I'm not "just a temp" anymore.
I'll have some overtime during tax season, which sucks a little because of the extra time away, but it also means extra money.
I like a challenge, I like learning new things, and I like to feel useful and like I'm making a difference. A boring job would be awful for me. |

Oh yes! Toys in the toliet!!!
I LOVE children. Love them. And they, for some reason, gravitate to me too. So, when I have kids, I plan on having a (small) day care service out of my home as well. My mom did it when we were growing up and I have the utmost confidence I'd be able to take care of another 1-3 children. That, my friend, will NOT be boring!
The job I have now IS boring... however, I get paid VERY WELL. So... that kinda makes up for the boringness... if it was boring and paid very poorly? That would suck. And I would hate it. :)
But when I AM bored... my boss tells me to check my email, read a book or listen to music. :? Thus the reason I'm able to start challenges on this site and do all the "work" from work! *sigh* I love my job. |

| wow Pookie, a day care service?? You really must like staying home because if you have a day care service you are pretty much stuck at home w/ kids all day. That would drive me NUTS!!! NUTS I tell you!! Absolutely NUTS!!!!!! |

I like a challenge. I should have gone into Law instead of majoring in English and History. I had a perfect 4.0 in college and could have gone on, but I wanted to explore Life. :P :P :P I should have stayed in school.

I guess I just grew up around it, so I'm used to it. ;) Also makes the idea not seem so "far out there", but tangible.
The kids would drive you nuts? Or staying home all day? Or both? ;) |
