Hey. I told Furbabiesmom that I'd post info I had read concerning some tips to deal with stuff you experience with going through withdrawals from food addictions. Unfortunately, there was no suggestions for the headache portion but I think the best one can do for that is drink lots of water. In any case, this website (see info way below) suggests adding any or all of the following to your water.
Lemon - cleanses the liver
Ginger - said to soothe nausea
Hawthorn berry - said to relieve bloating, aid digestion of fats and protein and improve circulation
Psyllium - to keep bowels moving
I would HIGHLY recommend you check the label, etc., on any of these herbs before you start using them. But, I have personally used this "detox drink" in the past and it has worked well for me. Items of note: (1) I've used ginger both in capsule form and tincture drop form. If you get the capsules, you can just break them open and drop the powder into a bottle of water and shake it up (2) pysllium is what is found in stuff like Metamucil but you can also just get it in capsules, etc. Just know that if you start taking that, you should probably break into it slowly. But, it is very good for "keeping the bowels moving".
I hope this helps. By the way, this information was in an article from Natural Health magazine way back in March 2001. It is still on their website: www.naturalhealthmag.com/health/ and you have to scroll through the stuff that's archived. The above info is in week 4 of a 12-weeks to better help series they did. |

| Hey FBM. I'm glad the info was useful. Of course, last night I sat reading more of the SBC book and found where he suggested you use Metamucil 15 minutes before every meal. hee hee. So, well, there you have it....obviously a good idea. I was wondering what putting a little lemon juice in a bottle of water would do for the first two weeks, ya know? I mean...not supposed to be any fruit but could that hurt? I don't think I'm gonna chance it. I'll just put that back into my water in week three. |
