I have a question about baked beans. I'm going to a bar-b-que over the weekend and I can handle not eating the hamburger/hotdog rolls, they are even serving turkey burgers so it'll be pretty easy to stay on the low fat course.....except for the baked beans, which I do enjoy. As a rule it looks as if beans are good for you and are higher in fiber, but am unsure if I should risk it because I think baked beans are made with sugar ? or is that brown sugar? does it matter?...... Does anyone know anything pro or con about baked beans ?
I'm a couple of months into p-2, but I never fully got into it. I've only been adding one carb serving a 2 or 3 times a week, not everyday. I'm eight pounds away from my original goal weight and have been very strict with the diet so I don't want to blow it now !

| I'd say because of the brown sugar, it wouldn't be best. If this is like a pot-luck situation, maybe make your own w/ Splenda brown sugar (Splenda & SF maple syrup), or some sort of bean salad. |

Thanks for the reply. I won't be making it, but I know it will be served. I went out to the supermarket tonight and checked some can lables. If I was making it myself I would choose the Bush's Original 98% fat free (1g fat, 0 sat fat, 7 fiber, 5 sugar, 29 total carbs per 1/2 cup). That one looked the best to me.
Of course I will just have to use some portion control sense, but compaired to what I've been eating the last three months I bet the baked beans will taste like candy ! That's kind of scary.
It was easy losing when I was cooped up all winter and able to plan ahead for every meal, but now that it's starting to get nice out and I'm getting out more with friends......I'm getting nervous that I'll blow it.
