Sorry...a little "gross"...
But, is Splenda known to cause gas? I know that other sweeteners do?

I'm not sure... but I do know that Splenda is chlorinated sugar so I guess eating chlorine molecules could potentially cause problems for some people. Just like different people react to aspartame and other sweeteners, this could be the way your body reacts to Splenda.

I've been using Stevia for tea and other things and it's not too shabby (Stevia is an herb that is 300 times sweeter than sugar... it is not approved by the FDA for use as a sweetener, but that's a conspiracy theory all in itself ;-) ). I use the white powder extract which you should be able to find with either the sweeteners or the supplements at your local health food store.

Sucralose: Also known by its trade name, Splenda, sucralose is 600 times sweeter than sugar. Sucralose cannot be digested, so it adds no calories to food. Because sucralose is so much sweeter than sugar, it is bulked up with maltodextrin, a starchy powder, so it will measure more like sugar. It has good shelf life and doesn't degrade when exposed to heat. Numerous studies have shown that sucralose does not affect blood glucose levels, making it an option for diabetics.

Splenda yes... Stevia yes (Stevia might be less stable at VERY high temps than Splenda).

Slenda was introduced to me by my nutritionist in 2001 and I've been using it ever since. I've found water easier to drink, it I add one or 2 slices on lemon and a packet of splenda, or Salada green tea with antioxidant/no caffeine with 1 packet of splenda. I usually consume 8 to 10 (8oz cup) in a day
My question is; South beachwise, how much of the little packet is allow daily.

I am severely allergic to NutraSweet so I am limited to Splenda and the pink packets for sweetners. (I can't stand Stevia) Since I started SBD I have been using Splenda exclusively and haven't had a problem with gas.

I was rather "windy" prior to starting on SBD and am no longer having that problem ... YAY! In spite of the possible side effects of Spenda and all the beans and veggies I'm eating, I must be doing something right . It's nice to be socially acceptable again.
