It probably won't throw you off, so put that behind you and move on. You should still be able to continue on with phase 1 normally.
However, I do want to point out why bars like those aren't a good idea for eating on a regular basis. They aren't part of a healthy lifestyle, which is what SB should be. Here's why:
1) The main ingredient is malitol, a sugar alcohol. Sugar alcohols are supposed to have minimal effect on blood sugar, but they can create cravings in some people. They can also create "intestinal distress."
Another count against sugar alcohols is that they have no nutritional value. Do you really want to eat something on SB where the most plentiful ingredient does you absolutely no good whatsoever? Even dark chocolate has been shown to have health benefits.
2) They have a lot of fat, half of which is saturated fat, and the other half appears to be mostly trans fats. So there are few, if any, of the beneficial unsaturated fats in them--mostly just the bad ones that do damage to our hearts and veins.
3) There is virtually no fiber. Fiber should be an important part of our daily diets, as it helps prevent colon cancer and heart disease, just for starters. It also helps keep us from getting the dreaded "intestinal distress."
4) They have a ton of chemicals. SB should consist of real, whole foods that haven't been processed to death.
So don't worry about your one transgression. Just remember that SB isn't low carb. It's about the right carbs, and those bars don't have them. Move on and know that you can do it! |
