Hello all,
I've been searching for something just like 'little losers' - thank you so much for getting it started! By way of introduction, I have to say that I'm not sure what my exact stats are, but I'm clearly fibbing on my driver's license which claims a height of 5'4" and weight of 120!!
My scale at home appears to be several pounds lighter than my doctor's, but I can still measure the difference. When I decided to try SB, I was creeping past 130, having lamented 125 just months before. Chastened, I'm trying to get contol over my passion for pasta, potatoes and good good bread.
I tried to do Phase 1 based on web material, but haven't purchased the book. I also corralled my husband into doing the same, secretly hoping to extend his life in the process -- both of his deceased parents were seriously diabetic -- and his sweet tooth is legendary. By focusing on 'not feeling deprived' I tended to focus less on portion-size and more on the fresh veggies, no/low carb, and no sugar. My husband limited portion size severly, and subsequently lost 15 lbs to my 2lbs! The nicest thing has been trading off cooking at home each night, with our toddler joining us at the table, as opposed to eating out 4 nights a week and eating leftovers from my husband's restaurant the other 3.

I can't claim a plateau if I haven't really lost anything - sigh -
so I've joined the list with hopes that I can tackle this in earnest.

I've been having strawberries and apples primarily, but think I should probably repeat Phase I until I show some real improvement. I also used to ride my bicycle to work almost every day, and I've been driving exclusively since January of 2004. Time to get out of the car!

One private aside - I have a daughter who'll turn 3 in June, and I'd managed to lose all of the baby weight by December of 2002 (I'd gained 50!) - only to gain much of it back when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2003. (She's bounced back, full of vigor)

It has been a real pleasure reviewing your posts - I hope this hasn't been too boring a read!
All the best,
Deirdre

Deirdre,

Welcome aboard.

I have one HUGE piece of advice. Buy the book! Although this message board is chock full of information, it is not a good replacement for the book. You can follow a mealplan but unless you undertand the concepts behind it, you may not be reaping all the benefits of this program. For instance, in Phase 2 we can eat an apple - but the apple smust be eaten with something like cheese or peanut butter because the fat and protein in them will cause you to digest the apple slower. All of this, plus a lot more is fully explained in the book.

Good luck and I hope to see around the boards!
Dee

Thanks Dee Dee!
Would anyone recommend the online program?
