I just bought the book and I have two questions. First, can you substitute meals throughout the first 2 weeks? For instance, if I don't want the vegetable quiche cup, can I have a western egg white omelet instead? Second, when it says to eat when you are hungry, does that mean that you can snack more than the scheduled 3 times a day? Do they want you eating healthy snacks throughout the day?
Thank you so much for the help... :) |

I have a slightly different take on it than Crabby when it comes to the snacks. I agree that the nuts are limited to what it says in the book, but I believe that if you need a little extra snack (but not more nuts) to keep from being famished, it would be ok. I have two cheese sticks in the afternoon now (my dangerous time). One about 1 or 2 hours before I eat dinner so that I won't be tempted to overeat. You'll have to figure out what works for you. I've only been on this diet for a week, and I'm beginning to learn what does and does not work. It's a learning process. We end up really listening to our bodies.
Also, as for changing your menu from the book, I agree with Crabby. Just be careful about the combinations of food at each meal. They are meant to keep you from having your blood sugar spike which causes cravings. Carbs need to be eaten with some kind of protein or fat to slow down the digestion process - but fat and protein (cheese stick, nuts, etc.) can be eaten by themselves since they don't spike your blood sugar. Check out how each meal is combined in the meal plan and you'll get the idea.
Good luck!

| Thank you so much for your help!! Today is my first day on the diet. This message board seems to be good motivation to keep the diet going. Thanks again! |
