Well today was my first day on the south beach diet, and i must say that it is easier than i thought. Not much easier but the cravings werent too bad. As the day went on though i got confused and im hoping someone can help me with my questions.
ok here they go hehe
- is it better to eat a salad with plain vinager, or with oil and vinager? I can enjoy it just as much without the oil but is it better on this diet to include thoose fats?
-Same with eggs and eggwhites
-I wanted to know if Diet Snapple with zero cals, sugar,or carbs is ok?

Caralynn,
Welcome to the beach!
I think that it would be ok for you to just have the vinegar, but it is essential that our body gets enough of the "good fats" daily. If you find that you've severely restricted your intake of the allowed fats, this eating lifestyle may not be quite as healthy as it could be.
The eggs...in the book all the recipies seem to call for egg substitute, but the food list says that the only reason not to use whole eggs is if your Dr. says you shouldn't eat them. I'd go with whole eggs myself...they're just about the perfect food (nutritionally speaking).
I don't know about the snapple. I'd assume it's ok with the stats you gave.
Keep on the beach! |

| Olive oil (especially extra virgin) has well-documented health benefits, plus it helps you feel full longer. |

If i am in Phase 1 should i really limit the butter intake or never ever use it? Im just asking bc i live in a dorm in college and their real eggs have a little butter from the stove they cook it on... and i highly doubt they use good oils or low fat butter.
thanks guys |
