My boyfriend and I are in Phase II where I have been for about three weeks. I've had pretty good success. I have lost about eight pounds total (I only have about 15 to lose). Lately I have began noticing BO (under the armpits) . This is something that I have never had to deal with before. I even used to be able to get away with not wearing deodrant. Now I have even tried two different deodorants and I am running into the same problem with both. I'm fine until about the end of the workday and by then things are getting pretty ripe  . Sorry for the details, but confused about how to battle this and if it could be related to the SBD. :?:
I appreciate any info/advice.

I have never heard of any adult past puberty not needing deodorant. Shower/bathe daily, use a deodorant. If that does not work, use a anti-perspirant. I really do not think that it has anything to do with a diet...

Hi...

Is the food you are eating a well rounded choice of veggies especially greens, and not just lettuce? Too much protien is not good if it is in lieu of your veggies. Are you taking a good multivitamen? I know that lack of certain vitamens can cause some intense body oder.

If your diet is not well rounded your body will burn itself up and that would release ketones, an acidy substance which give off an acrid smell...sort of like acetone. I smell it on my diabetic patients that are in ketoacidosis. Are you drinking plenty of water to flush your body out?

Just a few ideas, let me know how it goes. :D

beacher - I have no idea how old you are, but it could just be a hormonal change. The same thing happened to me (more sweat than odor) right after college, then went back to normal a few years later. Changing diet does tend to mess with people's cycles, so maybe that is what has your hormones out of whack. If it doesn't get better soon - there is a great deoderant I found that actually stops you from sweating. It is called Certain Dri and I got it at the regular old drugstore. Good luck!

Beacher, you're not alone girl!!! I have NO IDEA why... but in the past 3 weeks I have been experiencing body odor (AKA "pit stink"). I shower daily (with antibacterial soap)... I faithfully use deodorant/antiperspirant. I've tried different brands of deodorant too. By the end of the day, I can smell underarm odor. It's really freakin' me out too Beacher! One of my friends suggested that it may be due to weight loss and may be a way that the body is ridding itself of toxins. I haven't been doing great with drinking water. My next step is to consciously make an effort to drink more water and see if that helps. If this really is an issue of sweating out byproducts of fat metabolism, then maybe drinking more water will allow my body to flush out those byproducts in a different way. Ugh! I'm just as frustrated as you Beacher!

I don't think I've had any ricotta in the past month... so that's NOT the culprit! :P

Try drinking more H2O. Whatever is getting flushed out of your system via your perspiration will get flushed through your urine instead.

You know, I noticed the same thing today. Although I thought it might be that I've spent the past two days drinking caffinated drinks rather than water.

My plan is to drink more water and take a multi-vitamin, heavy on the B-vitamins, as they are known to reduce body odor.

Hope that is helpful!

I think you all are right. I never thought about it having anything to do with sbd, but I noticed that my usual deodorant is not as effective. I am in the process of finding one that does do better. Two showers a day and in between use shower to shower powder. And I agree with Crabby I'll try to cut down on the road kill.
