I'm at the beginning of P2, post-Atkins, and I'm a little confused and overwhelmed with the wheat/carb factor. I've read the book, looked over sections again, and can't seem to find specific info on items like pitas, wraps, etc.
I printed off something someone provided on brands of bread, but I'd love to eat fajitas(sp?), wraps, pitas.
Can someone give me numbers to look for, guidelines? Too much information swarming in my brain. I think I need to deprogram from Atkins and having a difficult time doing so. |

First, they key isn't CARBS and the NUMBER.. it's about low GI!
That's the biggest mental retraining you have to do after Adkins.
So, don't be so concerned about numbers.... except for fiber in bread.
Look at the ingredients. Get only breads, pitas, and tortillas made with 100 percent whole wheat flour -- NOT enriched. Stay away from items with a lot of honey, sugar, or corn syrup.
Breads will have to have some sugar to activate the yeast, but pitas shouldn't have any since they're unleavened.
Look for high fiber in bread -- I believe it's 3 grams per slice. No white flour, no enriched flour of any kind. |

| La Tortilla Factory tortillas are great. Yes, they're marked low carb, but they work for SB because of the high quality ingredients and high fiber content. The big ones have 14 g of fiber! |
