Too much too fast?

I do not mean to be rude or to offend anyone!
However, I read posts about people losing 7-8 pounds in the first week.
I would like to know how much these people actually weigh.
I mean, for a person who is not very fat it'll take longer to lose weight, right?

generally, yes. the more you weigh, the faster weight will generally come off.

Yep, more you have to lose the more you’ll be able to easily lose in ph 1. I had about 30-40 lbs to lose, and I lost 10 in ph 1.

I only have about 10 lbs left to lose, and if I went back to ph 1 now I’d probably only lose 2-3 lbs.

Absolutely. I was 205 and aiming for 160. I lost 14 in the first three weeks (stayed on p1 for three weeks due to slip ups the first week). I'm now down to 183 after 12 weeks. I think it's unreasonable for a person who has only 20 lbs to lose to expect that they will lose it ALL in the first two weeks.

If I have one complaint about the book, it's that it sets up an unrealistic expectation for those who have a comparatively small amount to lose. I can't tell you how many people have complained on this board that they only lost 5 to 8 lbs in the first two weeks... they seem to have been expecting to lose all 20 in a fortnight. They aren't looking at their loss as a percentage of their total goal.

If you have 25 or less to lose, it will take you longer, and that's a good thing. Slow weight loss stays off. If you actually could lose 20 lbs of a 20 lb goal in two weeks... imagine the see-sawing that would go on!!

It prolly wont be any longer than for me to get to my goal..

... but it will take you a lot more time and more work to lose your 20 than it was for me to lose my first 20.

The more you have to lose to get to your goal, the easier your body will reliquish it. The lower your body fat percentage, the harder your body will hold on to it.

Think of it like a bottle of catsup. It's easy to get 1/2 a cup out of a new, full catsup bottle. Just turn it over and it comes out practically on its own.

But when that bottle starts to get to the end, it takes more work to shake that same 1/2 cup out. Eventually, it's really hard to get the last 1/4 cup... you have to shake and scrape and squeeze and bend it. The last 1/4 cup is waaaay harder than the first 1/2 cup!!!

In other words, the last 20 *I* take off will be as hard as *your* first 20.... but my first 20 will be a whole lot easier than either.

Make sense?

I started at 177 and lost 12 pounds in phase 1 (stayed on 2 weeks). I was looking to lose 30 pounds altogether. I think I lost too fast because my muscles felt really weak and I was always tired. As soon as I added some good carbs I felt better.
