Stuck at 30 lbs....so far

Hi, I've been on the SBD since mid January and have lost a total of thirty pounds...so far. I am ten pounds away from my original goal (twenty from my *new* goal). I am very satisfied with the SBD and honestly believe that reading the book was a life altering experience (and for all of you just starting, stick with it because it really does work. If I can lose thirty pounds anyone can!).

I stayed on P1 a few weeks longer then the required two weeks. I found it easy after the first week and it really worked. I am into phase two now, but not 100% I do add a carb serving (1x a day) every few days.

Now the problem.....I have been stuck my current weight for two weeks. I weigh myself every morning (I know you shouldn't but it keeps me motivated). The good news is my weight hasn't gone up at all. I figured that once I got down to my goal weight and the weight loss slowed to a crawl it would be ok, but to be within ten pounds and have a stall like this is driving me crazy :x !! About a month ago I added a 1 hr. light/high rep dumbell workout four times a week. I have had leg surgeries, with minor complications, over the last couple of years (thus the initial weight gain) and connot do anything like a walking/jogging program like I used to do for weight loss. Do you think taking Metamusil (I've re-read the book and that suggestion stood out) would give my system a kick start and get me back on the right track ?
Thanks for the help. I've been reading this board almost daily for the last three months. It's a great source for advice and motivation, but most importantly letting you know that hundreds are going through the same thing you are ! You guys are all great.

240 start / 210 now / 200 original goal / 190 new goal

Congrats on the weight loss. I'm sure it must be frustrating to get so close and then stall. I did read a post here before with a list of things you could try if you stalled. The only one I can remember was that if you are eating the same foods for breakfast or lunches to try to change them to something different to see if you could start some weight loss. I'll look around and post it for you if I can find it. Best of luck :D

Plateau Problems
From South Beach Diet Online's Daily Dish 02/01/04.

It is not uncommon to reach a plateau in Phase 2 of the South Beach Diet, especially as you get closer to your target weight. If your weight loss has stalled, here are three strategies for getting back on track:

Try eating different foods. Sometimes dieters get into a food rut, eating the same things day in and out. Change your diet and you may start losing weight again.

Get adequate exercise. Plateauing may result from losing too much muscle mass (as well as fat). Maintaining muscle mass with exercise helps burn calories and boost metabolism.

Return to Phase 1. If you have plateaued for several weeks and still have a fair amount of weight to lose, return to Phase 1 for a kick-start.

Building on that answer, I don't know if you'll be able to lose the rest of your weight without adding in more good carbs. They have a lot of benefits.

Trying adding a multivitamin or omega 3 to the diet. I stalled too and then added both to my diet and now I'm losing once again :D
