| It just kind of sparked my interest a little, when I joined SB my main goal was to lose weight , not thinking about the health aspect. But after going to the DR and seeing how my health(Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Sugar) has improved, I am not looking at it as a weight loss as much as a increased awareness of my health. But if you could only pick the one that is more important to you honestly. |

| I voted for health, but really the two are pretty tightly linked. While their are unhealthy thin people, and you can overeat healthy foods and still be overweight, those are probably more the exceptions. |

| it was more health than vanity for me. it did occur to me the other day that i picked up a bunch of fittness hobbies to lose weight but at some point a switch happened and now i eat and exercise to better enjoy those hobbies. hard to explain. |

| I voted for health--that's what motivated me to start eating right. I was having issues with high blood pressure and high cholesterol--plus I knew type 2 diabetes would also be in my future if I didn't do something soon. But now that I'm close to my goal I feel so much better about how I look and it's VERY nice to be able to buy clothes that don't have "large" anywhere on the tag  So I guess along with good health good self esteem is an added benefit--And that's a great thing!!! |

| It should always be health first... without our health, it doesn't really matter what we look like, does it... |

| You are right Lynda realistically it should be heath but it isn't always the case, Sometimes we feel healthy but aren't consciencious of what our health is(meaning that some of us don't know our BP, Cholesterol levels, Sugar Levels) But vanity is right in front of us and is what motivates us to do something about it. Perfect example my mom who is 55 years old has never had her cholesterol checked and never goes to the DR, it really freaks me out because I am so health conscious. I remeind her that she has grandchildren and how important it is for her to be around for a long time, she still won't go to the DR. I can't control what she does but I can control what I do. Great point though about health first or we won't be around to change the way we look. |

| For me it was weight. I am basically healthy except for the weight. Now I know as I get older my weight will affect my health but for now I am lucky enough not to have high bp, diabetes, high cholesterol etc. |

| I picked Health. But the weight/self-esteem is also tied into it. How can it not be? But maybe more health for me because of my age. |

I voted health for many of the same reasons as people mentioned above. The weight loss and better figure is something that comes along with better health. For me being healthy means being fit and active, I can be fit and active a few pounds overweight, but I ache, am fatigued and generally lazy.
With the better/healthier eating of SB comes a better/healthier way of living. |

Yea i look horrible this heavy.. but it's all about my future i'm on in my twenties, I shoudln't be this out of shape.
but the motivater is my vacation coming up in a month, bathing suit... my pump body... eeekkk.. i know i wont look amazing, but i dont want to look horrible. And even 10 pounds will make me feel amazing.
But that's just the excuse to make me start now, out some fire under my feet.... |

Well I'm Ms Shallow - I picked weight loss cos my jeans are just getting too tight and I refuse to buy new ones in larger sizes just because I ate too much!
I used to able to eat whatever - and I was very active as well - so weight gain kinda crept up on me (I had post baby weight as well but I managed to excercise most of that off back in the day). I didnt put on a HUGE amount but even 15-18lbs is a lot when you are a light build and carrying any excess makes you look soft and flabby. That's me - I have to keep my weight on the low side to avoid knee problems also - a time ago the hospital told me it was ok for me to be slightly underweight because of that reason (they also told me to develop my thigh muscles more to take the strain off my knees), or else I'd likely need an op in a few years to fix my knees.
On the 'health side' (which really wasnt a prime motivator I'll be honest), I WAS aware that my sugar intake was horrendous, and I was far too fond of french bread rolls and bread in general. I LIKE whole grain types but I didnt used to get much of it cos it sticks in my teeth and its not as nice toasted as white bread (tho at least i chose the white bread made with whole grains you can get here). Ordinary white bread just tastes like soggy paper really. :D
I - and my digestive system - definitely like the more veggies thing tho and I do FEEL better in myself. Maybe even if we start like I did as vain and shallow (lol) then we end up feeling so much better that we stick with the eating plan just to keep feeling that way. |

I picked health even at my heaviest no one could say I lacked confidence or self esteem I just lack any kind of vanity gene
On the other hand given my medical background and that of my family it was a no brainer to do SB. |
