| Hi, I'm trying to gain weight, about 8 pounds. Im 20, male, 5'11'' Currently I'm trying to eat 6 meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and snacks in between in order to increase the number of calories I normally consume. So I'd like to get a few snack, or supplements recommendations that I could stock to eat between my meals. |

| You're best bet maybe more nuts and use of good oils as those are more calorie dense. Adding a bunch of junk food probably isn't a good idea. If you are used to SB prinicples, just try to increase portions of the good foods as well. Don't know if she will hate me for this, but there is a poster here, lorka150, that has some health issues and is also trying to gain back weight to a healthy level as well. She might have some insights into this process as well. Obviously most here have the other problem in terms of losing and maintaining by not gaining weight. |

I have an 11-year-old who regularly weighs in at about the 15th percentile weight for his height. We're supposed to put some MEAT on the boy - somehow.
The Dr's suggestions included:
Whole milk and whole fat cheeses - lots of vitamins and good calories.
Nuts and nut butters.
Eggs.
Increased grains - but healthy ones. Whole wheat breads, crackers, pancakes, etc.
Avocados
Basically, calorie-dense foods, but ones that pack a lot of nutritional punch as well. |
