Has anyone else noticed how many diet plans are now based on SB principles? Weight watchers now has a Core Program that is nothing but SB with a few exceptions. And I was watching an infomercial today about the NutriSystem which is now based on the GI Index and eating only whole grain carbs as well. I just thought it was funny that SB is pretty much recommended all over now but people still seem to be reluctant to accept SB as the proper way to eat for life instead of the latest diet.
Just my thoughts.

Why do nutri-system or ww & pay out all that money when all you have to do is buy the SBD book & follow it? Makes sense, & whole lot cheaper to me! SBD will be around for a long time but I doubt that it will put those two out of business simply because: 1) some people don't want or have the time to cook, & 2) others need company for the encouragement at the meetings. blo

it's not really that it is south beach principles.
it's because it's all based on healthy eating - that's why they are all similar.

South Beach came out after Sugar Busters and they are very similar. They are all good diets if you stick to them. I did very well on Sugar Busters years ago as long as I stuck to it. Same for South Beach. I have great success as long as I stick to it...when I don't I am in trouble.

Yes. I can confirm that Nutrisystem is based on the same principles as SBD. I "bought" (in more ways than one) that NS crap before I finally decided to try SBD. I'm sure it's good for some people but I thought it was an enormous ripoff -- they basically just emailed me a bunch of word documents with a list of "allowed foods" (which are, of course, based on the glycemic index). I was supposedly assigned to a personal coach who was emailing me these things but her emails to me were canned. I thought it was a waste and just sending me a list of allowed stuff didn't educate me at all. Reading the SBD book did educate me.

Also -- I did also try WW for a while (again...pre-SBD) and I think that one could or couldn't be SBD-based. It depends on the person. In my experience, they didn't really encourage (or discourage) healthy eating or eating by a certain glycemic index or whatever.....just sticking within your points.
