Just wondering.

Yes it is a prescription drug that my doctor has prescribed to me and i took it for about ten days. It takes a while to really make a difference and basically you are only suppose to take it if you have any fat in your meal. Three times a day. I was instructed to take it with my breakfast b/c i ate bacon and eggs. Most times I didn't need it for lunch but I needed it for dinner bc i normally ate a lot of red meat. It makes you go to the bathroom and it makes any grease pass through you. Sorry it gets a bit graphic from here...

you basically crap out an orangy substance and you pass it a lot when you fart... so if you have to pass gas be careful b/c it will leak out any grease you have absorb. It takes about two weeks to see any weight loss effects from it but it does work if you are okay with using the bathroom a lot or wearing a pantiliner and keep plenty on hand to change in b/c you will feel the need to pass gas often but it will be the grease trying to come out. It also leaves your butt rather greasy too so you will need to wash often. I kept baby wipes with me. I only had a ten day prescription b/c they are expensive and my insurance doesn't cover it $200 for a thirty day supply.

Hope that helped...sorry for the graphical detail but i like details so i try to give them

That is an awful lot to go through, what all does it accomplish?

It basically is suppose to make you lose weight b/c you aren't absorbing fat at all and trust me without going into more detail you don't absorb ANY fat whatsoever... the more fat you eat the more of a friend the toilet becomes... get a magazine rack and put in there if you really eat a lot of high fat meats. I am a steak lover and eggs adn bacon are considered to be fat too although they are all protein so I do believe it works. just can't afford it!

Xenical only gets rid of about a third of the fat you eat. I used it and did not see any change. I did not get all the side effects because i was not eating fatty meals. Xenical claims in research to help people loose about 7 pounds a YEAR. Most doctors will tell you it's not too effective.

I still have a bottle hanging around, and to be honest, I only use it if i eat a REALLY fatty meal....or as a laxitive.

DH tried it and gave up on it in less than two weeks because, like you say, "it leaks out at the most inopportune times". Embarrassment becomes a big factor. No, he lost no weight.

LOL, you already gave all the detail!

I'm guessing that you must use the "view new posts only" feature. That feature confuses me from time to time, because people end up repeating themselves in the same thread or something along those lines. It's a little funny once I figure it out.

Anyway, this product goes by the concept that only fat intake has an effect on weight loss or gain, which, of course, we know isn't true.

Alrighty then, no need to investigate this product any further. LOL

If Xenical was my only option, I'd rather be fat!

HA HA HA Mary! HA HA

I am glad I checked out more responses so I won't spend any money on this ever again. I had no idea that it only helps you lose an additional 7 pounds per year. I been wanting to get some more for quite some time b/c I was under the illusion that it helped a whole lot more than what you guys says it does.

Thanks.. sigh of relief!

It looks like it will be on the market later this year.
Quote: Glaxo anticipates that 5 million to 6 million people per year will purchase the drug, which will be sold under the name Alli. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06024/643128.stm.
At 60 cents a pill, that's a lot of money to be made ....... and the OTC version isn't even full strength.
