What do you think?
It's everywhere! I'm not against Christmas music...just the proliferation of poorly-made, over-produced smaltz.
I feel better now that I've said that! |

For me it depends on my mood. I was seeking out stations to stream in the week or two leading up to Thanksgiving but for some reason I am not so jolly this past week and have turned it off.
I didn't vote because I vascillate between "I enjoy it quite a bit" and "It's okay". I have my favorites and it does get old because most DJs play the same 8 songs over and over. And it's even worse than when they play the same 8 songs throughout the year because they are the same 8 songs from last year and the year before! But there are many many songs out there and when there is a good mix it can be quite festive. |

That's why you gotta mix your own. There are certain songs THAT MUST BE performed by a specific artist. ex: White Christmas has to be sung by Bing Crosby. No if's ands or buts.
Perhaps there should be a thread for Good Christmas Music.
Actually I do agree with ABlack's original thinking, I hate muzak versions for some of the Christmas Carols. |

the bf lived in Manhattan all his life until 5 years ago, when he moved here with me. He cannot tolerate christmas music at all. He just does not care to celebrate, will not help me decorate or dismantle a tree.
A confirmed bachelor, until we moved together he ordered chinese take out and rented movies every christmas for 25yrs.
One concession, he bought me a beautiful large tiffany style gingerbread house that I light duting the holidays. That and the meals. For me, christmas dinner is rare prime rib. This year though, I'm going to have to get tenderloin. |

| I enjoy the Christmas music. We have two Christmas stations here that play non-stop Christmas music beginning the day after Thanksgiving through the day after Christmas. That's all I listen to. My all-time favorite would be Little Drummer Boy by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. |

I like "O Holy Night" and the new "Elf" version of "Baby It's Cold Outside". What I can't stand--the hippopotamus song :P (that's me throwing up). Also, "Mary Did You Know" is thought provoking.
Has anyone heard "Ding, Fries Are Done"? It's a HOOT! http://www.americanangst.com/dingfries.html seriously
Merry Christmas!

| Luckily, (recent development) I've started lisitening to country stations where "Christmas Shoes" make me cry (really embarrasing in traffic) but "Leroy the Redneck Reindeer" gets me back on track! |

I'm guilty of loving the Bob Rivers twisted Christmas carols. My favorite is "There's Something Stuck Up in the Chimney". |

Hi! I thought there would be some opinions around here!
Good Christmas music is wonderful...The David Bowie/Bing Crosby song is amazing! I also like Burl Ives' "Holly Jolly Christmas."
I don't like cheesy songs when some boy band sings about holiday sweaters or someone's re-imagining of a classic. I can't stand "Santa Baby" from Madonna. It's meant to be very sarcastic and she isn't kidding!
Well...It's been fun to hear your thoughts! |
