I workout 6 days a week doing a mix of cardio/strength/yoga. I usually do at least 45 mins of cardio every day. Then I switch between 45 mins of Yoga, 40 mins of Pilates, and 30 mins of Weights every day as well. So about 70-90 mins a day.
I thought it was necessary to have at least one off day per week? Will you do a lighter workout on the 7th day? |

| I workout 6 days/week - anywhere from 40-60 minutes. I'll do either Zumba, Richard Simmons or Pilates - I usually have 4 days cardio and 2 days pilates. |

| 6 days here as well, but I still do something physical on the 7th--i.e. a walk with my son & husband, a few yoga poses, etc. I'm so into the groove that totally resting feels weird--unless I;m sick. I think its ok to w/o 7 days, as long as you mix things up and avoid overtraining the same muscle groups. |

| i usually workout 6 days a week (or even 5 if i'm not doing a challenge) and then on the days off just walk or something, nothing too taxing. I think it's important to at least MOVE every day but going to the gym at least 4-5 times a week i think is good. |

When I was in P2 and completely consistent, I w/o 6 days/week. That seems to be very popular around these parts. ;) I w/o anywhere from 30-60 minutes and I mix it up between walk/run, Pilates, Tae Bo, Eliptical and the gym.
Now I'm in P3 and when I get back to exercising, (I'm getting over being sick right now), I would like to exercise 4-5 days/week to maintain and build muscle.
Since I've gotten to my "ideal", I don't think it's necessary for me to exercise so often. (7 days/week) But when you're in the losing weight stage, I believe it's crucial to exercise 6 days/week and leave one day to rest.
Although, there are others that are at their ideal and still exercise EVERY DAY because it makes them feel good about themselves. :D There's nothing wrong with that. But if you want to give your muscles time to rest and time to grow, don't exercise more than 6 days/week. You might even find that 5 days/week works better for you and that you're able to "give it your all", whereas 6 days might tire you out. :? That won't help your progress and you'll get burnt out easily.
My point is: Try different things and see what works for you, your life and your body type. It's the same with this way of eating... what works for one, may not work for another. I think of exercise the same way. |
