Byby,

Re: your concern about whether the gradual re-introduction of carbs will mitigate the stomach problems you have had after your last few days of a more sudden re-introduction. I think you are absolutely right. Gradual re-introduction is the key. I had a similar experience not too long ago, when we had an Easter dinner at a friend's. I overdid it (jellybeans are a good carb right?), and really felt bad shortly afterwards. I was kind of impressed in a way that my body would react that way, because I really was such a carb junkie before. I think there were days when that was all I ate (okay I am not proud, but it is probably true.) Again, more evidence that gradual is the key. Also, congratulations on your engagement! You sound so happy, and I love to hear that!

And Deirdre2, I have a good friend who is raising her child as a vegetarian, and I swear that kid does not even ever ask for candy. They always have healthy snacks, and it is really having an impact on him I believe. So, I think your changes to your 3 year old's diet could have a lifetime effect. Let me qualify that I myself am no role model, but I *know* people who are. :)

OK, for my first weigh in. I have not kept good measurements really, so am guessing a bit.
Height 5'3.6"
I started about 4 weeks ago. I weighed around 126-127.
I lost about 5 in the first two weeks, and am at 120 now.
My goal is 117 (it might be kind of a stretch goal--I will have to see--it has been so long since I have seen that number on the scale).

Hey -

You guys are hard to keep up with!

I weighed 126.8 this morning - BUT I had a terrible stomach flu yesterday. I lost all bodily fluids, so expect it to go back up - still, maybe it helped me break my 127 barrier! And I got to sleep SO MUCH! I feel so well rested.

Sounds like everyone is holding steady - StaySilly - did you hit your goal yet?

I think I can...I think I can...I think I can... I didn't make it on to post for the weekly wiegh-in, but better late than never. I've missed so much. My favorite snack before SB: anything with sugar, especially candy, candy and more candy. Favorite snack now: Granny Smith apples with natural PB.

jfaz, sorry to hear you were sick. The stomach flu has to be one of the worst. It makes just trying to keep up with life miserable. Nope, haven't made it yet, but I'm SOOOOOO close. 140.5 since Sunday, which means 1/2 a pound to go! I'm starting to get very excited. I know that last 1/2 pound won't make any difference in terms of my looks or anything, but just reaching a goal is HUGE. To put things into persective:

I am a 5'4" female, 27 y/o with large bone structure and muscular build. First child at 20, second at 22.
As of 5/3:
Last week's weight: 153/141/140
This week's weight: 153/140.5/140

If I can make it by next Tuesday, that would be 13 pounds in 12 weeks. Then I can go shopping!!!! :D I definitely need to revamp my wardrobe and get some clothes that actually fit. The baggy butt just isn't doin' it for me anymore. Who knows - maybe I'll buy a 2-piece bathing suit this year for the first time since my daughter was born (7 years ago!!). That would be awesome. I definitely have a lot more confidence than I've ever had.

I don't know about all of you, but I feel like SB has changed my life completely. I just finished my lunch and went looking for sweets. The wrap I had comes with a cookie - threw it away and went for an apple instead. I was thinking about things this morning, and wondered if I really could keep up this lifestyle (eating, exercising, etc.) for the rest of my life. I'd have to say "YES!!!!" I absolutely can...and I'm psyched about it!

Welcome to everyone who just joined this week, and congrats to everyone who had success. Every little bit helps. Just keep chuggin' everyone. I think we can...I think we can...I think we can... :)

Staysilly,

Wow! You are 1/2 of a lb. from your goal, so you have pretty much reached your goal by Mothers Day!! What a great day that will be for you. I say you should hit the mall on Sunday for at least one new pair pants, and cute top!!!

Guys, I'm so sad. During the second week of P1, I lost nothing :( Weighed myself today. I had one small cheat this week because I had to but that can't possibly account for my zero loss. I'm thinking of going with P1 a week longer. I can deal with P1 longer, so it's not a huge deal. What do you guys think?

Hi Anita,

I know it's really hard, but I think you just have to take it in stride. I would go on to Phase 2 anyway. I lost 6 lbs the first week of P1, then only 1lb the second week. I went on to P2, and until last week (that's 5 weeks) I was losing about a pound a week. This past week I ate too many things I shouldn't have, so I don't have much hope for my next weigh-in! But if you're following the rules, I think you'll go down again.

I think the Little Losers thread may have just moved to the one called "Where are the little losers?", by the way...

Has anyone done a "phase 1 1/2"? I seem to have read something about that on this board but can't seem to find it now...

Hi Anita,

Remember that since you came straight from Atkins, this wasn't much of a change for you. You're lucky you lost any weight at all in p1. Move on to standard p2, please. Carbs aren't evil, just the bad ones are!

It's going to come off s...l...o...w...l...y for all you "Little Losers," so keep it in perspective. You're doing great!

Hello all, I suppose I'm a little loser also. I have 13 lbs to lose still (started with 25 to lose).

I have a question about how fast the weight comes off. I started SB about 2 months ago and then fell off badly and have been back on for a good month now. Since the very start I've only lost 2 lbs.. is this normal? I feel like I should be losing faster.

I found out from this board that the yogurt I've been eating was wrong (carb controlled when should be eating nonfat plain).. could that be why my loss is so slow? Or is it normal to only lose 2 lbs in a month?

I was originally on Atkins but switched so some of my ideas about carbs might be messing me up? I basically only eat cereal (Uncle Sam's w/ unsweetened soy milk), veggies, eggs, and meat (fish, skinless chicken breast and lean beef) with yogurt, SF jello cups and Blue Bunny lowfat SF ice cream bars (60 calories, low fat). The past 2 weeks I've reintroduced bread in the form of a sourdough rye with 3g fiber per slice and organic rye flour.

I plan on adding back fruit this week in the form of apples for snacks, but overall I'm not a big fruit fan so I doubt I'll be eating these beyond the 1 serving per day.

Any comments would be helpful. :)

I'm on ph1, week 2, day 4. I started SBD at 145, and so far I've lost eight pounds! My goal is 120 --I am trying to keep the idea that this first week was an exception and I might not loose all that much next week, but it's so exciting to feel how this diet really works --I just hope I don't get discouraged when my loss stops or slows!

UGH. I have been following P2 almost exactly day to day from the book. I did not lose anything in week 1 of P2! Am I doing something wrong? I only have 13 or so pounds to lose ...lost 5 in 1 week P1, 2 in week 2 P2...and now nothing! Please don't tell me I have to stay on P1 FOREVER!!! I am exercising about 4 times a week. This is depressing!!!

Any advice? I don't eat huge portions.

I'd like to join this forum. I'm 5'7 and a half, creeping my way up to 150....I am at a "healthy weight," but I really want to be thinner...around 123-125. I've been yo-yo dieting this entire year! I hope with support I'll be able to stick to this for a couple of months and finally reach my goal.
