Hi Deirdre2,
Thanks so much for your response. I guess we are all just human and need to get tough sometimes. I did the same thing with the nuts, so I actually, get this, got my 2 kids to sit around the table with me and make little bags of counted out 20 peanuts, 15 almonds and 15 cashews and 30 pistachios. So now I just grab one and go. I really like the nuts as you can see.

I am getting straight now! I was an avid Pilates fan for the past year, but due to a move from Florida to Maryland in JAn. have not done it since. I will get back on track, you are probably right!

Thanks for the pepper tip, I do not really care for celery!

OH NO! We slipped to page 3! NOT acceptable! How's everyone doing this Fri.?? Doing great here and totally back on track which makes me feel soooo much better! I joined my gym and have been going non stop for the past 2 weeks :D What a difference working out makes with this diet! I've dropped 4 lbs. in the past 2 weeks, of course I'd fallen off the wagon big time and I'm still not down to where I was, but I'm getting there. Just wanted to bump us up to the top and wish everyone a great weekend!

Kate - thanks for getting us back up the list - let's start a new thread on Monday?? This one is SOOOO long! Congrats for getting back on that wagon - you are doing great!

Pancake recipe - here are a couple I have tried:
Mock Pancakes
4 oz Light Philly Cream Cheese, melted in microwave for 35 seconds.
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 T flavored Atkins/DaVinci syrup or vanilla extract
I can't elive It's NOt Butter to taste

Beat together THOROUGHLY - no lumps. Pour on
Pam-sprayed skillet on Low/Medium heat for 4 minutes. Flip &
let fry for another 1-2 minutes.

Flaxseed Meal Pancake
2 eggs
3 Tbsp. ground flaxseed
1 Tblsp. psyllium husks
1/8 tsp. salt
2 packets splenda
1 tsp. baking powder
dash vanilla

Stir until combined, let sit a couple minutes to thicken, add a couple tsps of water if you think its too thick. Pour into oiled or pammed skillet and brown on both sides. Makes 2 big pancakes. Serve with sugar free maple syrup or fresh fruit in P2.

and this is a favorite!!

Mock Danish
1 egg
1 oz. cr. cheese
1 TB butter
2 pkts. splenda
1/2 tsp vanilla

Melt butter in skillet (can use cooking spray I guess )
Beat egg and 1 pkt splenda, pour into skillet- DO NOT STIR- let cook
Mix cream cheese, vanilla, splenda pkt. When egg is done cooking, spread mix over egg and roll up. Bon Apetit'!

Well - I am chasing that weight back down - trying to cook more varied things - I was in a rut - but I am digging out of it - I re-started my journal so hopefully that will help too. Hoping for good numbers on Monday!

Hi Everyone! I'm so happy that I can relate to all of you! I want to lose 10 lbs. and eating healthy isn't hard for me, it's just saying no to those extra carbs that I have a problem with.

This diet seems like it's going well so far. This is my fifth day and I feel better than the previous days. Days 1-4 were very hard. I couldn't get the sugar cravings out of my body! I don't know if I've lost weight yet but I definitely feel less bloated. This reminds me of when I first tried Weight Watchers - the water is the first thing to go. Hopefully it will be my little belly soon!! If one thing I've learned from dieting, nothing works as well as when you workout. I'm a habitual sit-on-my-butter but have since become a get-up-and-doer! I've been hitting the gym 3 times a week before work and I'm now doing 45 minutes of cardio and 30 mins weight training. Before I could barely be on a machine for 10 minutes! I hope this encourages some of you - my flab has turned to lean muscle. I just need to lose those pesky pounds I've put back on from vacation recently. I'm still excited about this diet and am determined to follow through with it. So, PLEASE help each other and don't give up!!

Start: 4/26 - 135lbs, 5'7"
Goal: - 125lbs

Hi all

Here are my stats:

27
5'9
start weight 170.5
mini goal 160
goal weight 155
size 12- goal of size 10

My friend and her fiance started SBD a month ago and lost quite a bit of weight. About 3 years ago I had gained about 15lbs and lost 10 of it last year. However, through the holidays and winter much of it has crept back on. I had been a 12 since I was 15 then went up to a *tight* 14 and am back in a 12 but they are getting tight again. I decided I need to take control of my eating and exercising habits. i started working out but have difficulty finding the time and the weight just wasnt coming off. When my friend told me about SBD I bought the book and decided to try it because my face started feeling chubby and the pants were a little tight.

There is a strong history of obesity, heart disease and diabetes in my family and I am sure I am heading down that path if I dont change my habits now.

I am on day 5 and had a very rough first 3 days because I hate eggs and have such a chocolate addiciton! I just discovered this site yesterday, and it has helped TREMENOUSLY. Not only have I found great non-egg-tasting breakfast recipes, I have gained the encouragement I needed (my coworkers are making it very tough on me). I have only lost 1.5 lbs but thats fine- its more than I was losing without the plan and I dont feel like I am 'suffering' on a diet.

jgrahamsd,
welcome! I'm interested to know how the diet p1 works for you. my stats are similar, 5'8" 145, want to go to 135ish. however, i've been on p1 for 10days and i haven't lost a pound nor an inch(my pants are just as tight!) I exercise and have only cheated one day(many cookies) Let me know how it works for you, especially if your clothes start feeling loose. good luck, i'm determined to keep at it!

Hi hyguee!

I did the stupid thing of not weighing myself at the start of this but I can tell you my stomach isn't out to China anymore. Because I'm tall and slendor, I carry my weight in my stomach, butt and thighs. I don't think I've noticed a big difference yet - this is only day 5 for me. However, before this diet I would be STARVING by 10am (and that's with eating breakfast)...and now I'm just content. I have to eat mini-meals - I eat egg beaters w/ veggies for breakfast then I have 15 almonds before lunch. I've been eating the low-carb lean cuisines for lunch (I don't even know if these are allowed but they seem to be very low in sugar and carbs) and an extra side of veggies. Also, I snack on part-skim milk string cheese, lowfat cottage cheese, raw zucchini sticks, ect. whenever I get hungry. I usually have lean meat or fish for dinner with veggies (bbqing is KEY!!!). If I get really hungry - it's all over for me so I try to snack a little bit. The alcohol thing is killing me though - I'm usually a one-two glass of wine a night girl and I LOVE vodka tonics on the weekend. Hopefully it will be worth it. Keep me posted on your progress!!!

jgrahamsd,
must be lunch break, huh? me too. o.k. thanks, sounds like you're doing what i've been doing. I 'm smack dab in the middle of my period so maybe, when that passes i'll wake up to a new body! KEEP ME POSTED AND GOOD LUCK!

jgrahamsd - those low-carb lean cuisine things are fine, but my caution would be with the sodium levels. I looked at the one I had the other day and it was 700 mg (RDA is 2000 max - for the whole day). Eating them every day could cause you to retain more water than you otherwise would. Try to switch them up with salads w/ some protein. (I know they are a lot less preparation than a salad, though!)

hyguyee - yes, your period can definitely stall the weight loss! I am thinking of skipping the weigh-ins when it is my TOM. It just depresses me unneccessarily. Hopefully, once it is over, you will have some success on the scale! Good luck!

Happy weekend everyone.

Hi allihoo28!

Thanks for the tips. I'm too lazy to make my lunch and it's the easiest thing for me - I hope they don't hurt me too much. I've always eaten a lean cuisine, smart one or healthy choice about 3-4 times a week at work. You're right about the salad thing - I'll definitely try that out. By the way, I just stuck two huge spoonfuls of sugar free/fat free choc pudding in my mouth (I'm on Phase 1)...ouch!

Anita

Hi everyone! Tomorrow morning (May 1) is my first weigh-in day for P1... I completed day 7 today. I am very scared because I feel that I haven't lost. I usually exercise 3x/week but this week I only went once because I had my period. Which also makes me feel bloated. So I hope that tomorrow the gods of the scales help me out!!!

Ok ladies-

I weighed myself this morning and I was down 1.5 lbs! Yay! Not as much as I hoped for during the first week of P1, but at least it is something... I don't know if week 2 is associated with a higher loss but I guess I'll find out next week.

Hey ladies!!! I've been absent for a few days but I just wanted to check in... I have been cheating terribly for the last few days, but with no guilt whatsoever - I just got engaged!!!!

So... I've given myself permission for a few days of joyous celebration. I've had buttery lobster, fresh crusty bread, creamy, fatty desserts, and tons of champagne, and I'm loving every minute of it. But don't worry, SBD is still in the back of my mind, and I'll be right back on track on Monday. Plus, my parents are in town and everybody has mentioned how slim I have gotten... wahoo! South Beach has been working for me!

Now to keep the weight off till the wedding :D Glad this diet is so easy, and that all of you are here to help! As you can tell, I'm feeling like I am on top of the world right now!

Hi! I guess I would be classified as a "Little Loser", LOL! )Love the name! I am 5' 1", and USED to weigh 102, before Christmas. Also, for the past year, I've had custody of my niece and nephew, one is an 11 year old boy, and the other is an 11 MONTH old GIRL! :) I also have two boys of my own, 12 and 14 years old....Needless to say, I'm extremely busy! I got really depressed over the holidays because I had decided to allow the children to go stay with their mom for Thanksgiving thru xmas...and helped her get temporary custody back......she blew her chance, and the kids are permanently placed with me again, which is fine with me! The baby calls ME mama anyway, and I missed her so much! (I originally got her when she was 3 weeks old-so I've had her all but 2 months and 3 weeks of her life) Anyway, I gained 18 lbs in 2 months!!!! I was miserable! I started Phase 1 a week ago...and I have lost 8 lbs already!!! I feel so much better! I am really small framed, so the extra weight was really making me feel awful! I know that a lot of this 8 lbs was water, but it just feels great to have it off me. My stomach has flattened, and now I'm beginning to see some loss in my upper arms, and legs as well as the hips and butt! I'm on my feet from 4 am to 10 at night, taking care of everybody, we have 3 sets of stairs here, so I consider that a lot of exercise! :) Can I join your little losers club? Please? :) Thanks you all!

Hey little losers,

I have posted occasionally, but decided to introduce myself because I had a few questions (you'll see them at the end of this novel, if you want to just skip to them :-) . I am in my low 40s. I had my kids late....stayed in school forever, started work, met my husband, waited to see if he was *ever* going to finish his degree, and then finally had two beautiful girls, ages 3 & 7. I think I have noticed a few of you in a similar boat though (thank goodness). After beautiful girl number one, I managed to get back down, but---and in retrospect, this is funny: I think I was able to lose the weight, because I had to have a root canal, and just could not eat for a while. But no such *luck* for the second one. So, there were definitely a good seven to ten lbs. I just could not shake. I think that that people think of me as pretty small, but the thing is that everything I own is a bit tight now. My preferred weight, is 117. I am 5'3"ish. I started the SBD at 127ish. After P1, and a few weeks on P2, I am hovering around 120, which I am happy with. Still, I would LOVE to see 117. If I do, I might decide it is too hard to maintain, but I am dying to see it once again :-)

As so many have said before me, what a great thread. Seriously, it is good to commiserate with you little losers, because no one else wants to hear about someone who is is not too overweight talk about a diet. Recently, I read this article in Oprah, about a woman who lost well over a hundred pounds. She said that at first people were really supportive. But when she got to a size 10 or so, people started to become much less supportive. Well, she aimed for her goal anyway, and got to her size six, w/o the support.

So questions: My neighbor is like us, and went back to P1 to jump start her weight loss again. She seemed very happy with the results. 1) Has anyone done that? Gone from P2, back to P1 for just a few days? Also, I wanted to ask something funny. I thought it would be funny for us to report what our favorite, but completely illegal, snack food was before SoBe. :D For me, though I have *never* met a sweet I don't adore, after the first few days on The Beach, I realized that it was the lowfat, salty, snacks, that were making my clothes snug. I thought nothing of snacking on those Snyder's Nibbler pretzels or low fat Cheese Nips. It is not like I ever ate a whole box of them, but I had a few "snacks" a day,--for years really. Thought nothing of it. It also took my appetite away, so I did not eat as many nutritious foods as I probably should have. What about you guys? I am so curious....2) How has your "snack life" changed? What were your faves before The Beach? 3) And what do you eat now? I try to eat some raw vegies a few times a day, but when I want a treat, I lean pretty heavily on black olives, pickles, pickled okra, etc. I have always loved them. I know--high in salt, but they keep me away from the Cheese Nips.

So, in summary to this novel, thank you all for you tips and tricks. And welcome BeBeGirl. Sounds like you are doing something very admirable. I can see why there is a bit of stress in your life. Hang with this thread. They'll make you smile. :D
