Bump plus...
Just to let others know. I started SBD March 15th or so, I lost 11 lbs of the 50+ that I have to go on phase I. I started phase II on Easter Sunday. Since then, I didn't lose a single pound until this week..(that's 5 or 6 weeks). I did "rearrange" what I had, but no actual weight was lost. Then all at once I lost 5 lbs in 1 week. I didn't change my phase II eating at all. I did increase my exercise a little, but not really appreciably.
So...stick with it! It's a healthy eating plan, and eventually, if you really need to lose it, it'll come off. |

Good info. I also think people who haven't taken their measurements should do so.
I am starting my 4th week of P1. I have lost and gained the same 3 pounds over and over again. (I never cheat but I am a pear shape and have about 15 lbs to lose).
At the beginning of last week I decided to take my measurements because I was feeling lighter, but it wasn't showing on the scale.
I took my measurements again recently and found I've lost at least an inch everywhere!
This week I will add in Wheaties for breakfast about twice a week and maybe a pita pocket with my salad one day this week.
Anyway, if you really don't see results on the scale - take your measurements! |

I'll bump! BUMP!
Someone earlier said to post what someone was eating for you all to evaluate to make sure we're sticking to it. May I? How does this look? I just started P2 yesterday (lost 1 pound in P1, then gained 2! Only need to lose 8 pounds. I exercise and walk at least 30 minutes every day).
Yesterday I had:
B: 1/2 c. real oatmeal with cinnamon, 1 c. strawberries, 1% milk
S: Hard-boiled egg
L: Leftover crustless pizza and fresh green beans
S: 2 small flax muffins
D: Spaghetti squash with chicken (had parm. cheese on it), broccoli, and salad with 2 tbs. Caesar dressing
DE: Fudgesicle
Today so far:
B: Berry smoothie
S: Hard-boiled egg
L: Grilled chicken salad with Caesar dressing
S: Apple and Cheese slice
D: Tilapia and steamed asparagus
DE: Don't know yet
Thanks in advance! I'm staying SOOOOOOO bloated! |

thank you, thank you, thank you!
I was just about to post this same question, and you answered it! I am on Day 8 of P1, and have not lost anything since I started (weighed in today). I do carry my weight in my stomach, and have been sticking 100% to plan since Day 1. But I actually only have about 12 lbs to lose, and I was already eating sort of low carb before SBD - not as strict as P1, but more like P3. I was at a plateau, which is why I started the SBD.
My question, if anyone can answer is: can I expect to lose anything at all in P1? I just want to know, so I do not get frustrated. |

Yes, it is possible not to lose anything in P1, but don't let that discourage you! Mark a month on your calendar and go for it! Pay attention to how you feel, how your clothes fit, your energy level, your growing strength over cravings.
I was on P1 for a month - am now in P2 (beginning week 2) I have about 15 lbs to lose - all belly, butt, hips. I am 5 feet
I lost and regained the same 3 pounds all during P1. Despite following the diet religiously and becoming more active, weigh-ins were "up 1 lb/down 1 lb". I added a light weight training program 20 minutes every morning. I did lose inches or 1/2 inches here and there, however, I was very frustrated and went to my doctor. After ruling out thyroid and other possible issues, a friend on weight watchers suggested I increase my fat intake slightly. (I was only using olive oil - and not much of it- no other fat.)
I adopted a more "relaxed" diet on the weekends (ie. bran flakes for breakfast Saturdays, pepperoni slices for a snack, small amounts of butter on my vegetables or a baked potato for dinner. Nothing too outrageous, and not all weekend.)
I have since lost a previously "unlost" 2 pounds and am feeling slimmer, clothes starting to fit better. I go right back to my strict plan every Monday morning.
I can't say this is the right thing for you, but it worked for me. What I can say for sure is "Don't give up!". I, too, had previously been a somewhat low-carb eater. Also, my doctor recommended taking calcium and vitamin c to aid in weight loss. So I take Caltrate 600 and Vitamin C as directed. Don't know what part it has played, but going to keep it up. Also, take your measurements now if you haven't done so already. It can be a better gauge if you aren't seeing progress on the scale.
I didn't see the advertised 8-10 lbs in 2 weeks, but it simply means my body isn't in that majority and I have to work a little harder or a little longer. It does not mean SBD is the wrong diet for me, only that I have to try small changes to find the right combination of food and exercise that works.
Good luck and hang in there. :) |
