Light wheat bread? I'm not sure what that is, but it doesn't sound like it's whole grain.
We aren't looking for low carbs--we're looking for good ingredients like whole wheat that hasn't been lightened or enriched. We're looking for high fiber and low sugar. |

I've read through all these bread FAQ's and I still don't know!!! I am so looking forward to starting P2 on Monday so i can have my bread back!
I'm in Canada, so I haven't been able to find anything on the bread list as far as those brands go, but here is the best i think i could do:
14 Grain Bread (3g Fibre, 1g Fat, Sugars 2g)
Ingredients:Whole wheat flour, 14 Grain Mix (cracked Wheat, Pearled Barley, Rolled Oats, Cracked Millet, Cracked Brown Rice, Cracked Buckwheat, Cracked Rye, Corn Semolina, Sorghum, Cracked Tritcale, Poppy Sedds, Sesame Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Flax Seeds), Enriched Flour, Water, Wheat Gluten, Fancy Molasses, Yeast, Salt, Vegetable Oil (Canola or Soybean), Wheat Bran, Vinegar, Sodium Stearoyl-2-Lactate, Acetylated Tartaric Acid Esters of Mono and Diglycerides, Calcium Propionate, Mono and Diglycerides, Wheat Starch, Ammonium Chloride, Calcium Iodate.
What do you think? Although the first 2 ingredients are whole grains, I'm concerned about the 'fancy molasses' and enriched flour. Should i find another bread?
Thanks!

Having more enriched flour than water isn't good. Also, many of the grains in the "14 grain mix" do not appear to be whole, and millet is pretty high GI, as is corn semolina. Overall, the GI of this bread won't be ideal.
A couple of Canadian brands were mentioned on page 1. You couldn't find those either? :( |

Thanks Kimboroni!!!
I guess it's back to a different grocery store to spend another hour in the bread aisle  :)
Makes me want to take a road trip to the great ol USA, just to get some of the food that you guys have available that we don't. It would be worth it to get a nice stash of FF coolwhip, bread and I could probably think of a million other things!
Thanks again for all your help...

| In this case it means "whole wheat." Occasionally it means Weight Watchers, but the context is usually different then. For ww pasta, ww bread, ww tortillas, ww flour, ww English muffins, it's "whole wheat." |
