Hi Sandywms,
Don't be discouraged--it's really true that working out at that level can keep pounds on, and I believe that's because muscle weighs more than fat. Since you're probably converting fat to muscle, you may not see any difference on the scale. Have you been measuring body fat? I'll bet that's gone down a lot, and at Curves where I work out they always tell people that the body fat index means more than how much you weigh.

I would try your trainer's advice and see how it goes. I was also discouraged the first 2 weeks of P2 since I only lost a pound each of those weeks after losing a total of 11 in P1, but this last week (3rd week of P2), my weight loss picked up again.

Hi all...very happy today. Started SBD on March 8 at an all time high for me of 241 (I am 5ft 7in and am 40yrs old). I lost about 9 pounds in the first week or so.. I got on the scale today and was down to 227.5!! I am feeling great and not craving anything..

Sandy sorry to hear your scale isn't cooperating. :( You are probably building lots of muscle though. Do your clothes fit differently? Best of luck to you!

Aloha, Well I think ti was bad math, but I have lost another 1 1/2 pounds. 43 to go (which sounds a lot better than 60) and this is since about February 8 or so. I have been doing a lot of yo-yoing recently. Too much cheese and legal wine I think. I will cut back. My best to all of you.

Hi all!

Yesterday was the start of my second week on P2. My first week on P2 and I lost *drum roll* 2.6 lbs!!!! I'm totally psyched. (And now I'm a member of the P2 weekly weigh in club! WooT!) :D :D

P1 - week 1: 182.5
P1 - week 2: 178.5
P2 - week 1: 176.5
P2 - week 2: 174.5 (Yesterday!)

On average I've added one bread/grain, one fruit, and one glass of wine per day on P2.

I wieghed in this morning at 124, but my boyfriend and I rewarded ourselves with a dinner at our favorite steak house and we had dessert!!
But it is back to the routine today and I have a few more pounds to lose and try to maintain that weight. I have lost 8 pounds so far and my boyfriend has lost 13!!! :D Best of luck and keep up the good work!!!

Well, confession time for me: I was out of town all weekend at a conference, and I cheated! The conference hosted a *dessert reception* and I just couldn't deny myself a few sinful bites. Man, was it good! I also ate fruit, but mostly had nibbles of different desserts. The next night I went out to dinner to an Indian restaurant (I know, bad choice, but I LOVE Indian!) and ate curry with basmati rice. Not a lot of rice, but still. The rest of the weekend I ate okay, even took a box of Uncle Sam's with me and bought some strawberries when I arrived. I was in Boston, so ate lots of seafood. I missed my usual weigh-in on Sat. and was dreading the results when I weighed this morning. But somehow, I still managed to lose a pound! I really expected to see that I gained due to the cheating. My stats:

Started SBD 2/21 at 149 lbs.
P1
Week 1 - 142 lbs.
Week 2 - 138 lbs.
P2
Week 3 - 137 lbs.
Week 4 - 136 lbs.
Week 5 - 133.5 lbs.
Week 6 - 132.5 lbs.

Total loss so far: 16.5 lbs.!

Way to go Miss Scarlet. Don't feel bad about the cheat cause there is always going to be times we don't make the best choices but being able to get back on track is the main thing! Congrats on the loss! :D

Thanks, Happymomoftwo! I knew I would probably start some "planned cheating" once I'm in Phase 3, but since I'm not at my goal yet I wondered whether this would really set me back. Luckily, no major damage done! I already know I'm also going to be cheating on Easter, since my family traditionally always has honey ham. I won't eat much, but I'll eat some! And I'll just plan to also eat lots of veggies, no bread or candy, and eat really well the next day or two. I do like the fact that Dr. A expects people to cheat on occasion and it's not really a big deal.

I gained 1.5 lbs this week. It was my 3'rd week on the 2'nd phase. So, disappointing! But, I know what happened:


I had 2 servings of grains (bread/cereal/brown rice,etc.) on several days.
I had cake at work on Wednesday.
I had a piece of fruit (probably strawberry) bread someone brought into work yesterday.
I pigged out on almonds one night -- probably ate 40 instead of 15.

I need to go back to one grain and one fruit per day, and be stronger about the sweets. I wish it wasn't so!

P1 - week 1: 182.5
