A friend of mine had one last summer. She called me in tears and said that was the most traumatic and painful thing she has ever been through. I asked her about it and she refused to give me details...

But, the health benefits seem to be wonderful!

I wonder if this is safe for someone who has had Gastric Bypass surgery? Since my intestines are re-routed I am always worrying about taking things like this.

Hmmm, you might want to check this website to see if you can do a colonic.

http://www.tummytemple.com/why_colonics_seattle_colon_hyd.html

There's a list of medical conditions that determine whether or not you can have a colonic.

I have booked myself my first appointment for a hydrotherapy colonic friday. This isn't where you take herbs and pills, it's where they flush your colon. I'm not doing it to lose pounds. But rather, to flush my body from all the old toxins: processed flour, sugar, etc.
I'll let you know how it goes!

I've been told colon cancer is the number 1 killer in America. You just don't hear much about it because American feel squirmish about this subject. I am seriously considering trying this, maybe with my hubby. I don't want colon cancer or nasty stuff like that in me! A flatter tummy would be nice (even thou it's getting their just by being on the Beach.

After looking at those photos, I am grossed out thinking about that "crap" being inside of me. Which item at drugstore.com is like the one at the drnatura site? I am thinking about doing this, but I don't know how and if I could handle that stuff coming out of me. Amazing and gross at the same time.

I have a friend who does these colon cleanses quite regularly. She put her husband on one of the Herbal Fiberblend drinks (from AIM International) and he got rid of so much gunk one time that he filled their downstairs toilet and it became out of order until a plumber could come and fix it. Can you imagine that? I have used the Herbal Fiberblend drink myself in the past and became much more regular while using it. I never passed anything scary though. The only reason I stopped using it was that because it had a very nasty taste that I got sick of. It is a great product though.

There is truth to the buildup in most people's colons. The white flour especially becomes like Elmer's glue in the intestines and forms a coating that can really interfere with the absorbtion of nutrients. It is in this coating where parasites can reside in humans. Parasite eggs are on produce and fruit all the time - so wash carefully! ~KLM~

I read a study that said 35 g of fiber daily can cut your risk of colon cancer DRAMATICALLY - we're talking like 70% or better. Colon cancer is caused by polyps, and anything "spongy" (fibrous) that can "wipe" the cilliated walls of the colon can essentially remove the stuff that can develop in malignant polyps. If you're having "a few hard, black marbles once or twice a week" like the website says - you have a big problem! More water and more fiber are a better place to start imho than shelling out money for someone to cleanse you. :?

If people are having pain with these supplements, my guess is that it's just causing you to cramp up until your colon starts expelling crud. And who is to say that it might not contain bits of the actual inner membrane? Some diseases that are *cough* "colon cleansing" in their own nature can do that as well. If you have parasites in your colon .... ew. Gross. But speaking from experience (don't ask) a quick trip to the doctor and a brief prescription of anti-parasitics is an easier (and more effective!) route than a truckload of herbal laxatives.

I'unno. Call me a skeptic. A background in the sciences has given me a healthy dose of cynicism regarding OMGWOW!!!111 Herbal products with flashy websites and glowing testimonials. Now that I'm in phase two of SBD, I'm perfectly happy leaving my colon to its own devices.

It's more of an "alternative health" thing... most MDs are not proponents of this, and it is not regulated in many places, so "buyer beware."

Let me make sure I have this right. On the homepage there's that nasty picture and the caption, a quote from Corey, who says, “I woke up and passed the biggest, longest and nastiest piece of stuff I have ever seen…”

What, and then he fishes it out of the toilet and photographs it? What’s up with that?

just wanted to post about the Dr natura. My DH did that for 3 mths like suggested. He said he hadnt felt that good inside since he was a kid. He has always been regular in the bathroom. But he said he no longer has that weighed down heavy feeling in his stomach. He said food tasted better, he could sense what he really wanted to eat vs guessing and eating a bunch of junk. I do plan on doing it sometime in the future but not now.
