I watched Celebrity Fit Club on VH1 and 2 of the cast members got a Hydrotherapy Colonic. Has anyone here had one or known someone who had one?

It basically clears out your colon so stuff that has been "stuck there" like red meats and other toxins are expelled. It's a way to flush your body. I don't know if you lose any weight other than the stuff in your colon.

I came across this website which is a form of colon cleansing. You can buy the products for much less than a colonic. Thought about doing it but after seeing what comes out (yes, there are pictures) I got kind of scared. Here's the website: http://www.drnatura.com/
People swear by the colonic for weight loss and general well being. What we do for weight loss!!

I do a cleanse every 6 months to clean it out. It's very important to do that before you want to lose weight well actually even if you don't want to lose. That stuff can stick in your colon for years and can cause colon cancer. There are a lot of safe ways to clean your colon. Someone here told me that Elvis Presley had like 25lbs of crud in his colon. Talk about so gross!!!

Geez you had to make me look at the pix to see what you are referring too??? JK!! Those are parasite worms....thats a different kind of cleansing than just a regular colon cleanse. I don't think I have worms so i didn't do the parasite cleanse. You may just need to do a regular colon/liver cleanse. Go to www.drugstore.com and check out their stuff. Same ingredients but a lot cheaper. You don't need to pay over $15 for a cleanse.

Okay I'm definitely not going to look at those pictures. If it's similar to what I saw on Viva La Bam on MTV then that's pretty nasty. If we print it out and stick it on the fridge and wherever our off-limits snacks are hidden it would probably be good good deterrent when we get the munchies.

So they're pills? I thought you had a professional do that, or is that different? What pills do you use from Drugstore.com? DO you notice results right away?

Do doctors say it's helpful? I'd like to see some research, I'm skeptical of testimonials since I work in advertising and make them up almost every day!

I'm very interested in learning more about this too.

There's home colonics and then there are hydrotherapy colonics where you have a professional do it which is what celebrities do. More information below:
http://colonhealth.net/colon_hydrotherapy/ct_qanda.htm

I also checked with a colonic technician and he dispelled the myth that there are tons of worms or critters visible when they do a colonic.

I'm still not 100% sold on having someone stick a tube up my butt, however, a good cleansing sound like a fine idea to me, especially if you have eaten red meat a lot in the past.

What's the difference between taking pills whether from drnatura.com or drugstore.com and a laxative? In theory I think a colon cleanse sounds great but...

I'm familiar with drnatura and came very close to placing an order. However, it turned out that there wasn't much a difference between their products and taking a regular laxative UNLESS you also purchased the pills for parasite infections. Just wondered what the folks here thought who have used them -- is there a difference between colon cleanse products and regular old laxatives?

I think it's almost the same thing depending on the laxative. If the laxative is herbal then it's just like a colon cleanse but if it has stuff in it like mineral oil or other harsh ingredients then I wouldn't take it. They have pretty much the same ingredients. I have tried many colon and system cleansers and they are all herbal ingredients.
