Hello!
I'm wondering if anyone out there has recently (or not so recently) switched from doing the 2.5 month Hospital/Grapefruit Diet to the South Beach Diet?
I started the Grapefruit diet in May 2005, followed the program for 2 months and lost 20 pounds. It is reccommended that a person only do it for 2.5 months and you can lose up to 50 pounds! This is the diet (AKA - Mayo Diet) where, in the past, doctors gave it to their patients who were about to undergo heart surgery. The basis of the diet is: eggs, bacon & 1/2 g.fruit for breakfast, salad w/ lean meat & 1/2 g.fruit for lunch and much the same for dinner. No snacking is allowed. No nuts, beans, grains etc. But...you can have ANY salad dressing you like. It's the most bizzare diet, but it seemed to work even tho it's the most nutritious.
I am 29 and have been o/weigh my whole life and decided it was time for a major change. After I lost the 20, I decided to give SB a try and I love it so much. In 2 weeks, I'm down 6 more pounds and feel fantastic. I really didn't have a hard time for PH1 with cravings for sweets or carbs because I'd already gone thru that w/ the G.F diet.
Anyway, I was just curious if anyone else is in my shoes right now; especially after coming off such a strict regime with the GF diet.
I'd love to hear from anyone with any similar experiences with the switch!
Take care,
Angela |
