I have used their free on-line system and it does help some at least for most of what I was interested in tracking.

I use the free fitday.com and debating to spend the extra money for the pc. Let me know what you think if you do purchase it.

Hi Guys!
I had to register so I could answer you! LOL!

I have the home version of FitDay and LOVE it! It runs circles around the free version and I enter every BLT I consume on it. That's every Bite, Lick, Taste...not the 'old' diet stuff.

Yes, more than one person can use it. You can enter your own recipes on it, do custom foods on it and it remembers them, print off some of the many charts and stuff they use. My doctor loves it and has certain things he has me print out and bring to appointments. There might be a better piece of software out there....but for the price, this is a good one.

I'm completely sold on it so if you have any questions let me know!

I've been playing around with the free version this last week and I really think its a fun way to keep track of all SBD foods. Its been telling my that most of my calories are from fat though, the saturated kind and I feel like this is a really bad thing?? The majority of my fats are coming from eggs, Canadian bacon, and pork, cheese etc... so this should be ok? I'm also eating tons of veggies. Im just a little confused becaus I thought that most of the fat being saturated will be bad for my cholesterol. Or is this version of FitPC maybe not so accurate since it is free??

Fat is much more calorie dense than veggies are, so what I've found is that even though I'm (by volume and serving size) eating way more veggies than I am other things, in order to keep a balanced diet, my fat ratio will end up being fairly high, especially in phase one and the first month or so of phase 2 where you're avoiding or slowly introducing back the "medium" caloric things like grains and fruits.

Look at an early phase one day:

Breakfast: 1 cup sf okay cereal, skim milk, 6 oz v-8
snack: celery with natural peanutbutter
Lunch: huge salad (2+ cups of mixed veggies) with lean chicken breast grilled
snack: cheese stick
dinner: Steamed veggies, huge salad, 2-3 oz lean meat
snack: 1 slice ww toast with smart balance
snack: sf jello

You've got 6-8 servings of veggies in there, with almost no calorie count for them. While they're representing a good portion of your daily food, they're going to be a small fraction of the calories, because they are so low-cal.
When you add in even a little fat (which is very calorie dense), or nuts (ditto), or meat/cheese, you're going to have more of your calories going for that, even though you're only having two servings of meat, one of nuts, two of dairy and two of grain.

That's my philosophy anyway. I don't know how much sense it makes to you. I don't pay much attention to the "ratio" chart on there, as mine is always almost half fat when I'm eating lots of veggies, even though my daily intake of grams of fat is /way/ below what it used to be (like a tenth per day!)

Hi,

I have been pencil journaling for years and just found fitday a few days ago. It is incredible and so easy to use. Not only does the food part keep careful track of your input the activities part tracks how much you are moving. I am overseas now on a dial up and I will definately buy it when I get back to AZ.

I ditto everything Jess said. This is my exact experience with fitday. I put in every calorie I consume, just to keep track of my nutrients and such.

I love that you can add your own recipes, and keep track of exactly the brands and things you use.

very good program, and pretty inexpensive for all it does.

I purchased a program called calorieking.com. It is excellent and very easy to use. I imagine it is something like Fit Day. I paid $15.00 for 18 months. If anyone else works with this and could compare it with Fit Day, please let me know. I am very satisfied with Calorie King, but always open to other programs and ways of thinking.
Thank you,
Arlene
