Hi, i am just wondering if anyone has a good alternative to the Ricotta cheese desserts. I absolutely hate Ricotta cheese, but would like a little treat sometimes after dinner. I think this diet will be fairly easy for me since I already ate lots of veggies. I have cravings, but they are tiny. I crave things like one cinammon Jolly Rancher and I didn't even have one today. I simply sniffed it and felt better ! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks ! :) [/b]

Heres a good peanut butter cookie recipe from the recipe thread...

1cup peanut butter
1 egg
1cup splenda (25 packs if you don't have the big pack)

mix till the batter is stiff. Spoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet...I even put the little marks with my fork on the cookies!!!

cook for 9-11 minutes at 350........

Enjoy!!

How about taking some plain non-fat yogourt and flavouring it the way you would flavour the ricotta?

Hubby and I enjoy yogourt flavoured with vanilla and Splenda, or cocoa and Splenda, or with lemon extract. Some people even enjoy a tablespoon of natural peanut butter mixed with plain yogourt.

The recipe for peanut butter cookies that Patsfan provided is also very yummy! Just limit yourself to 2 cookies a day.

You should not worry about ricotta too much...by the time you get to day 13 ---you will hate NOTHING, I MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING MORE THAN EGGS.

Umm, you can get through Phase 1 without eating any eggs.

I'm allergic to eggs, so I did Phase 1 without eggs. I had Canadian bacon and/or yogourt for breakfast most days.

No need to eat eggs if you don't like them or are allergic to them!

I wasn't fond of ricotta desserts either. I ate the cheesecake recipe. If you like cheesecake its good. Its floating around here somewhere. I also made this awesome MOCK bread with flaxseed meal and a lil protein powder. If you use protein powder NOT as a replacement it is a SB friendly. Dr. A answered it in a Q & A session onf Prevention.com. This is the flaxseed bread:

Ingredients:
2 cups well ground flaxmealor
1 1/2 cups meal, and 1/2 cup protein powder
5 eggs
1/2 stick butter, softened
1 Tbsp oil,canola or sunflower
1/2 Splenda or 4 droppers of liquid Stevia
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp vanilla extract

How to Prepare:
Cream butter, oil, sweetener, eggs. Add all dry ingredients and mix. Use the cream to thin mixture if too thick, you don't want it pourable but don't want it to be a big thick glob either.Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. For OWL, adding cocoa powder and macadamia nuts mimics those no-no cookies nicely. Also great with pecans.

Found this on a lowcarb site. It was delicious. Don't overbake, it might be dry. Top with butter. Also....I used egg whites and eggbeaters and didnt use the full 2 cups of flaxmeal. I really liked this though. It is great source of protein, fiber and omega 3 fatty acids.

Don't forget the no-sugar-added fudgesicles! (I won't call them sugar-free because that would confuse you trying to find them.) I have one of these almost every night!

I never even had one bite of ricotta on phase 1. It just didn't appeal to me. Had fudgesicles (NSA) and PB cookies w/ a cup of skim milk for a sweet snack. Good luck! You can do anything for 2 weeks!

My favorate is:

1 fudgsicle (no sugar added)
1-2 table spoons peanut butter
1-2 table spoons frozen fat free whip topping

I usually used 1 table spoon peanut butter and 2 of the whip topping...but it all depends on what flavor you like more!!

but you take all those... put it in a bowl (yes..the fudgsicle still has the stick on at this point) and microwave for 15-20 seconds... take it out...scrape the fudgsicle off the stick and mix it all up...

put it in the fridge or freezer (depending on how fast you want it...hehe) and enjoy!!

tastes sooo good...

sometimes i will nix the peanut butter and just have the fudgsicle and cream...and that tasted just like icecream!!

I never liked ricotta cheese either (unless it was in lasagna) but after trying the creme recipes in P1 I'm hooked!!!

Ugh, i thought it was horribly nasty too. But I didn't want the whole container to go to waste.. So i tried it again, but put it in the blender with a splash of 1% milk, and blended it until it was really creamy. THen i put in the splenda and vanilla and stuff. It was actually not bad!

:D HI, I never even used the cheese before starting the 'lifestyle'.... I found that if you use a whip or whip really well with a mixer.... it makes the deserts sooooooo much better. That little bit of air and leaving in the fridge till it's really good and cold is the answer to not likeing the cheese deserts I found !! Good Luck with the "Lifestyle"............. :!: :!:
