After reading the book, I am convinced that I can and need to try it (two days so far) but also think I should share it with my mom and brother (still will as we are mega-high carb eaters)....problem is , the book does not address the diet's efficacy and safety for people with kidney problems. My family history is very strong for kidney problems and we had been watching protein and meat intake for years (this diet definitely involves much more meat than we are used to)..........we have to watch our BUN, creatinine and uric acid (all of which go up with high protein diet).....appreciate any help or links so that I can research more on this issue.

You should see your doctor before attempting this diet and see what he advises you on it.

Hi, I've been checking out this site and think its great, I've been on SBD for 4 days now in PH1. I too have kidney problems, I had kidney surgery 2 years ago, checked with my doctor (who I have to see every 6mo.) and he said its fine to do SBD, just make sure to drink plenty of fluids because thats where all the kidney problems start from, is dehydration. I havent weighed myself yet but I feel thinner already :)
