BabyT

Hello,
I am 31 years old, 4"11, and weigh 115 pounds. I have an athletic build and I work out. However, I am starting to get a few dimples on my thighs and I have a layer of "baby" fat on my body. I don't think I need to loose too much, but I know I need to firm. I was wondering if you think the South Beach is too extreme for me. My metabolism has definately slowed and I'm not feeling as comfortable in my bikini anymore!!!

Any advice? :?:

Hi! SBD is a very balanced and healthy way to eat- you can eat this way for the rest of your life unlike many other diets. It isn't a fad diet by a long shot, in fact it was created by a cardiologist to help improve the cholesterol levels of his heart patients. He discovered along the way that they lost weight as well.

Reading the book as well as the stickies here will help you discover how we do it. The book seems to become outdated as far as allowable foods are concerned but there is a wealth of information on why we eat the things we eat and how it benefits our health.

South Beach is broken into 3 phases. In the first phase, many people lose a larger bit of weight as they stop eating things that cause sugar/unhealthy carb cravings. I have read how the body loses a lot of water weight here on the boards due to this modification of food intake.

For you, I would recommend Phase 2. If you go to the Phase 2 page you'll find some great information about what to eat and get some truly beneficial tips. Babice has a post there that recommends everyone read Kimboronis post with many questions and answers that you may have - and some you havent even thought of!
Hope this helps :D
