Has anyone out there been on the Medical Quick Weight Loss diet? I was on it 22 years ago, lost 60 lbs. and kept it off for 22 years. This past year I gained 15 lbs. I live in Michigan, but I think it may be in other states. Please seen feedback. :?:

Hi Sue,

What did the diet consist of? Was it a type of Dr. Stillman's Quick weight loss diet which I started today? I only have 10 lbs to lose for X-mas as I am going overseas for my Holiday. I will have to be very carefull there to as I always put on when in holiday as I never stick to an intended plan as the food is just to good.... Being a lover of food...well, you know what I mean. But not this time!!!!!!
Kind regards,
TeresaSA

I was on Physician's Weight Loss Clinic system (like medifast sort of). I did lose exactly what they promised I would, even though I did cheat in the beginning a teeny bit on portion sizes (I am a huge tall muscular person for goodness sake and 700 calories was NOT going to cut it - I probably had about 900 the first month).

I am doing SBD because it's been 2 years and I'm looking for a life plan that works better for me, and I was starting to gain a bit back (about 6-8 pounds), and wanted to lose more anyway. My BMI is 24.4 but I'd rather be around 22.

I truly think SBD is the best plan for life for me - I tried Weight Watchers and got SICK of weighing, measuring, and counting everything. I tried Body for Life and the food is similar, but too many carbs for me (Bill's favorite is the potato), even though I do exercise a lot. And I got sick of all the pushy EAS sales pitches. I must say Myoplex is the tastiest MRP though. Now I'm pitching EAS! Oh well..

OH MY GOD! Im not sure if i read that right, but idid somoene say they had 900 calories a day for a whole month? OK well dont wanna sound rude but thats called STARVATION not a medical weight loss miracle. If your body gets under 1200 calories a day, it is considered to be starving. That is EXTREMELY unhealthy and i hope to god that i read that wrong...

I live in Michigan too and was on a diet program that went by the name of Medical Weight Loss....ran by a Dr. Cooper..is that the same? I lost 70 lbs on it 16 yrs ago...kept it off til I had major surgery and now well here I am again....but it was very regimented...which was fine for me..but I can't keep paying for all these programs LOL I HAVE to learn to do it on my own.

Another Michigander here who has also used the Medical Weight Loss Clinic Diet. I first signed up for the program about 10 years ago, I think it cost me around $700 or so, but I lost about 60-70 pounds at an average of about 20 lbs./month. Being one of the Hyper Thyrod people, I've gained weight from thyroid and kids and have to try to take it off several times since. I have followed the diet many times since but each time with less success in losing weight. I personally didn't think the program was that bad, in fact, I find that it's similar to SBD Phase 2. Each Day I was allowed 2 1/2 Proteins, 3 Vegies, 3 Fruits and 2 Starches. The problem is that MWLC Diet relies heavily on "their vitamins", and "their nutrients" which are basically high protein (hot cocoa, protein bars, etc.). Each of these run about $15/box with 7 in a box... gets very expensive. At least with SBD, you pick your foods and there are hundreds of receipes out their.

Whatever you choose to do, discipline is key.

I know several people that did a medical fast of sorts and were drinking their meals... Results were definitely quick and noticable...

I always wonder about that extra skin... where does it go? And what does their belly look like... a deflated balloon?

I'm at the point where I'd try anything... "deflated balloon belly" and all...

I hate being fat!

well I know nothing of this particular diet, but I do know about loose skin and deflated ballooon bellies. I had a gastric bypass 17 years ago, went from 310 down to 118 at my lowest. I'm not that thin anymore obviously but I do still have a lot of loose skin under my arms and between my legs and i have this huge skin apron around my belly. It sucks!!! But thank goodness for clothes...I look really good with clothes on.

ok, this doesn't have to do with the diet. but, about the lose skin.

which is uglier. the fat you had or the lose skin you now have?

I know it would only be an opinion but, I'd love to know what you think. Thanks.

The fat was definately uglier. I can always cover the loose skin with clothes. I can't wear a bikini obviously. And I really don't like to wear sleeveless tops. Shorts I will tolerate since nowadays people wear them down to the knees.

Yep fat was definately uglier.

Hi,
I'm having surgery in a month and would like to lose my extra weigh by then. Not all, but enough to feel healthy enough for my surgery.
Can you tell me more about this medical diet?
Where can I find information on it?
I know for sure that SBD is my diet for life, but I would like to lose my weight a little quicker for the surgery. After that, I am back on SBD.
Any info you can give me is highly appreciated.
:)

Have you thought about surgery to remove the skin?

Thought about it only briefly. I met a woman who already had the procedure done on both her upper arms. The scars were hideous. I'd rather keep the flab and skin. Besides it is considered plastic surgery which is not covered by health insurance.
