Im a new mommy of a beautiful 3 month old baby girl, I've always been very inot healthy easting and excercise, but with my new little onebeing colicky, plus my three year old running around I have not had any energy or will power to stick to a diet! Im only about 8lbs above my pre pregnancy weight, but that has been the same number since my daughter was a month old. Plus I was about 10over my average when I initially got pregnant so I have more like 20lbs to get to a comfortable weight. I've been trying to eat healthy and excercise, but like I mentioned I've had a realy hard time finding the determination I need, and Im finding myself getting very down on my appearance. I need a diet that is rewarding enough to make me continue it and get over this slump, would you all recommend South Beach, or is there another diet you would suggest? ~Kayla

This diet is very easy to stick to, mainly because it allows you to prepare what you want from the approved foods list. Because you have just had a baby I'm going to assume you're nursing.... this means you need to start in ph 2, and not ph 1. Your little one needs the nutrition. Also if you are nursing you will find weight loss happens more slowly, but a couple of months after you are finished nursing the weight will come off more rapidly if you are still sticking with this Way Of Eating. I would also recommend that before starting on South Beach you read Kimborini's FAQ as it is full of useful info, as well as the updated foods list.

Honestly, this is the easiest plan I've ever tried.

That's not to say I never slip up. In all honesty, I've had at least two days out of every week when I've gone pretty far astray. (I intend to improve that average over time.) But even with about a 70% adherence, I'm losing 1-2 lbs per week pretty consistantly.

What I do know is that there's no need to punish myself or give up because I slip. When that donut in the breakroom wins the battle against my will power, I put it behind me.

If I trip and fall on the street, that doesn't mean I'm not capable of walking. I get back up and keep going. Same with the diet. I mess up, I get back up, and I keep walking.
