Hi, has anybody tried the six week body makeover? I was on it for a few weeks, I have to say it does work, I lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks but it was so difficult to do. I was considered a B so that meant the only proteins you were allowed to have were 2 oz of either fish, or chicken or 1 oz of lean beef for every meal including snacks. No dairy of any kind and only egg whites. I work rotating shifts and this diet was just too difficult to do for me. plus I was always hungty. If you can follow the strick regime it is a good diet. I am doing much better on the SBD.

I started the 6WBM in Sept, and you're right, it does work. I was never really hungry, and after a few days of serious withdrawls and feeling like a truck ran over me, I was feeling great. Problem came in when I started to get to where I wanted to be weight wise: I tried the One Free Day approach to the maintainence phase, and the minute I had something I wasn't suppose to have (bad carbs) my body went into overdrive with cravings. And although being a D means I can have mostly anything (except certain fruits), I was getting very, VERY bored with the eating. I don't cook much, don't care for cooking, and tried a ton of spices, anything to make the food taste less bland. Although it works, it seems that I can't use that diet in the maintainance phase. I don't want to bounce all over the place with my sugar levels either. I know I need to eat better, and I feel like my sugar levels are completely off. Now I'm questioning if this will work for me . . . . ?

I got really sick off of it, so I stopped doing it.

Have you been doing the SB diet then? How is it working for you? Is it easier than doing the 6WBM? :?:

I was a "B" also. And this is better by far! You have so much more freedom. I can also eat more veggies and such that were considered no-no's for a B in 6wbm. This is SO much better! After 2 full days, I was 2.2 lbs lighter on SBD already!

What about withdrawls? When I did the 6WBM, I was literally sick for the first 4 days. Did you experience much of this with SB?

Not at all. I am on Day 4 of SBD and no withdrawls at all!

The sbd is much better although I have only lost 15lbs in 6 weeks I am hoping to keep it off this time. Even though I did lose from the 6wbm I just knew that I couldn't live like that forever. This diet is a way of life and I am able to follow it no matter what shift I happen to be on.

I was on it for months and it definitely worked. After I was in the maintenance mode I could cheat and eat something naughty without any problem or weight gain. I did get bored eating the same things all the time. The food plus surgery, then combined with the holidays and quitting smoking, I stopped the program and ate what I wanted and gained all of it back plus some. This time I thought I'd give SB a try. I wasn't without energy with that program or this one but maybe that's because I was never a heavy carb person and I gave up caffeine in 1999. Haven't lost more than 1.5lbs but since I'm only on the second week of Phase I, I'll stick to it for awhile.

Former "B here, I just stopped 6WBMO yesterday & started SBD...I too got tired of eating the same thing, and it was SO hard to go out to eat!.

I would love to chat with any ex-6WBMO...it does work! I lost over 30# since mar 15, but it was too restrictive. I cant see staying on it much longer!

I am in process of trying SB. Lost 27 pounds since MArch on MIchael Thruman's six week body make over. I am a type B and it has such limits it is no wonder I lost. I have fallen into some old habits in past month or so but I think SB will work for me. It is still low fat and has some limits but I cannot tolerate Atkins. The fats are too much. Never lost. Anyway I am interested in hearing from prior 6wbmo people who may have good results with SB. thanks.

I got really sick on SBD, I am not the type of person who can do low carb I think...actually, something went wrong with my kidneys. Maybe something underlying that I didnt know about. Going to the Dr this mo to get it all checked out. But 6WBMO is still working well for me. I was off for a few months but didnt gain any weight (but I have also eliminated wheat & dairy from my diet due to my own intolerences...the elimination of dairy makes it hard for me to be on SBD as well).

The best way to get around eating the same thing all the time is to be really creative with recipies, much like SBD, which are online on the boards for 6WBMO.

Best of luck to you!

I tried the 6WBM and HATED it! I only made it 1 week because I thought the food was SO bland and gross. I was an A, and I really tried to cook the recipies like they said, but without salt, and the food combinations definitely did not agree with me. Plus, I was hungry and had terrible food cravings. I like the exercise part though, but after 1 week, I had enough of the diet and gave up. I sold the whole kit at my last garage sale for $50. That was the best thing I got out of the deal :)

I too tried the 6WBM. I did it religiously for 8 weeks. I lost 12 pounds in the first 2 weeks then 4 more in the following weeks. That was the best part. Now for the worst... I spent all day Sunday cooking and bagging food for my meals for the entire week. I hated having to figure out when I could have my protein and whether or not I had to eat it with a vegetable or a fruit, etc. It took way too much time and thought. I am really surprised I lasted for 8 weeks. And the food with absolutely no taste!!! Yuck! Not only did I gain back all of that weight but almost 10 pounds more on top of it.

Now for SBD. I have been on it for a week and a half. I have only lost 3 lbs. so far. I am a little disappointed, HOWEVER I can definately see myself eating this way forever because it is not that restrictive. It teaches you to make better choices. It is not realistic to eat food that has no taste like the 6WBM. SBD is full of flavor and I don't spend my sundays cooking and bagging food anymore. I can actually adapt most of my families meals to fit into my new WOE/WOL. So I may not be losing the weight as fast as I would like, but I feel I am losing it in a healthier and more realistic way with SBD. :)

Just my two cents...

I totally agree with Stefanie- the results are not as dramatic on SB, but the food is great, and the freedom is great and I think for myself as well that this is more than a "diet" but really a permanent lifestyle change. I am really thinking twice now when I think about eating something sweet- I am a chocoholic to the core! Well, I used to be anyway- chocolate dipped strawberries are an awesome alternative- but this diet makes sense. It's very easy to know what you can and cannot eat, and there's no guess work in portions and no counting points and all the other things that get so irritating about other diets. Plus, I just keep reminding myself that it cannot come off any quicker than it went on (my weight, that is) and it's the big picture that really matters. I might mess up one day, but so long as I get up the next day and keep trying, than that's the best I can do. So, that's my goal. I have a ton of weight to lose, and no matter how long it takes me, my goal is to stick with this and not give up on myself. :)
