ive tried south beach many times but found myself cheating by day 10 each and every time. i am an emotional eater and think i need to eat a bit more variety of foods so thats why im turning to weight watchers. i know my range would be 18-23 but im not allowed to join b/c i only want to lose 10 pounds and it says that people with that or less as there weight loss goal should not join. i was wondering does anyone have a list of all the foods and their point value so i can start by myself? thank you i appreciate it!

Hi there Tabbycat, Please don't think me rude as that is not my intention, but Weight Watchers is not for you if you cannot stick to SB and tend to cheat. WW allows for way too much flexibility and that includes bad food choices (I belonged for years).
If you think emotional eating is your problem and you cannot make SB work by itself, read Dr. Phil's book on weight loss. He goes into great detail to help you find out WHY you are an emotional eater and how to overcome the problem.
I read Dr. Phil's book before discovering SB and found the program to be a good one in the way of food choices, but I was not willing to commit to the hours of intense self-analysis as I am not an emotional eater.
You say you have tried SB many times and fail by day ten? I am assuming you are doing P1? If this is the case, go to P2 which allows fruit and grains and see if you can stick to the plan. The weight will come off slower, but it should stay off. I had only a few pounds to lose and started on P2 and lost four lbs after the first three days. It may work for you too. |

That's weird, I was a member of WW for a year and a half and you only had to have at least 5 lbs to lose. I can't believe they wouldn't let you join. Actually, I can't beleive they didn't want to take your money, ha ha. There were certain meeting times on certain days that were set for 50+ or 100+ to lose or something like that. Did you try to join one of those special meetings rather than a regular one? And I noticed you said they bumped the points range back down to 18, I knew starting at 20 wouldn't last long. I know WW has an internet based thing where they send you everything in the mail and you track everything on the internet. Maybe you could do that. You could also just go into a WW place and buy the food points book and the eating out book. They don't make you stay for the meetings. I used to buy cookbooks that way. You only have to weigh in once a month so they don't really pressure you to stay. Just say that you wanted to pick up the book and that you don't have time to stay, or whatever. Hope you figure out the best weight loss plan for you.
