Starting today!

Ok, so I just decided I am starting this diet today! I did this last year because I had gained ten unwanted pounds and have regained the weight again (though I only managed to loose five last year). So, I am trying again... My favorite thing was the quiche cups!

I have to say though, I don't follow the meals.. I eat acceptable foods at each meal, but never the ones they recommend. For example, day 1 you are supposed to have egg/bacon and I had a cottage cheese omlette.

I am going out to lunch today and am a bit worried.. THere is an incredible bread basket there which is going to tempt me, but I already picked out what I am having for lunch... I am getting the sesame encrusted tuna salad. Does this sound ok?!

Hope to read and share experiences over the next few weeks.. :D

Hey Dani,
I kind of started Saturday but I'm really new at this. My goal is to lose 15 lbs over the next 5 weeks. I'm going to Cali and I want to look better in my swimming suit. Maybe I'll even be able to wear the bikini I bought last year on impulse. lol. I don't use a scale but I'll know when I lose weight lol! I have so many clothes that don't fit anymore. This past year I've gained over 10 lbs and it's driving me crazy to have this huge wardrobe and not fitting anything! Know what I mean? When I look in the mirror I see a flat box shape from the side view and I usually have a pretty nice figure. Today I'm buying the ab lounger and see if that helps my mid section. Do you exercise at all? A friend said that I should walk 4 miles a day. That's not that easy when it's raining. You mentioned not eating the recommended meals and I totally understand that. I don't have time for cooking so I eat very simple meals if possible. I like to buy those ready cooked roasted chickens as an example and I love salads because you can make them ahead of time. Breads are my biggest weakness I think so I'm just not buying any!!! lol
Hope to hear from you soon and God Bless YOU!!!
Kristin

There is no requirement to eat the meals and recipes in the book. Most of us don't and never did. But you do need to organize your meals around sound SB principles and recommended food combos. To check this, make sure you check out the menu planning tips/meal templates for each phase in Kimboroni's FAQ pages. (You can find a link at the bottom of my posts or in a sticky at the top of this forum.) She also has links to updated food lists to help you make sure you are working from current info as well. Good luck!

I agree with redroxco. I'm much too unpredictable and undisciplined to stick to what's in the book. I take what they have in their recommendations for meals and go from there. So, for example, for a phase 1 lunch, I'm shooting for 3 oz of protein, 2 1/2 cups of veggies (with about 1/3 cup of that being beans), about a TBSP of good fat and, if I haven't already had it, a dairy. That's typically how I plan things. I just choose from the allowed foods. And, when I cook, I have to cook a lot of one thing so I'll freeze it and have it ready.

I'm paying for the official site and I do refer to the menu suggestions they have for me daily. But, I usually do that just to give me ideas...especially if I need a change or something.

Good luck!

Hey krin63, I totally understand your situation. I actually am going to a wedding next saturday and want to loose at least a few pounds for that...

I do work out, though not enough at each session compared to what I used to. I probably do 4-5 times a week at this point and anywhere between 25 and 45 minutes of cardio and I lift once maybe twice a week.
I am in Boston right now and am finding it hard to modivate to walk or do much of anything when it is freezing and snowy out! LOL!

Hang in there.. Hopefully this will work for us~ It is really hard to loose those lingering few pounds.. I was 120-125 and now am around 135. I would be happy to be back under 130 though, so not a whole lot to loose... Last year I got back down to just under 130, so at least I know this will help me cut out a few pounds to start..
