| Has anyone used this stuff? I'm thinking about trying it for some um..... relief. I feel great, but I think I need an extra boost. I also think a pound or two I actually lost is not um.... showing up on the scale. |

Why don't you try Metamucil? Get the SF kind and take as directed as either a supplement or a laxative. Either way, you'll see results and feel better.
You can also try eating more beans. That'll help. |

| Use it if you must, but I would suggest drinking a ton of water for a few days to see if that helps things "start moving". If you've never used a laxative, you're in for a real surprise! |

| Many people (if not most) on Phase 1 use Metamucil. I've never heard any horror stories about it if it's used as a supplement. |

| I would try Fibercon or even a store brand in the pill form. Much better than drinking that nasty stuff. Fibercon is great for IBS too. Once I started taking it, the "stomach attacks" cleared up. |

| I panic every time I hear of anybody thinking of taking that stuff. I've had three episodes of laxative addiction and abuse in my life. It's nasty stuff and the withdrawal is way worse than anything you're feeling now. Don't even think about it. Any of the fiber things - Metamucil, etc. are fine and healthy. Exercise really helps. So does water. I also find a hot drink first thing in the morning helpful - anything from hot water with lemon to coffee or tea. Also, I find cheese and milk and stuff kind of "clog the works" if I don't keep those things to a minimum. So does PMS, which thankfully doesn't last forever. If it gets really bad, see your doctor. There are mild, non-addictive prescription laxatives if you're really having a lasting problem. |

After suffering from IBS for over 15 years I actually feel the most "regular" now that I've been eating the SBD way! Guess it's all the high fiber, water, etc.
I agree; don't try laxatives unless it's a last resort. Talk to your doctor first! |

| There is some great advice here, and if you really feel like you need to take a laxative after trying some of the above suggestions, I would try some Phillips milk of magnesia. Its not as harsh on your stomach. Like the other girls said if you have never tried a laxative before I will just say its very unpleasant. :( I would use it as a last resort. |

| You can also try correctol (sp?). It is supposed to be more gentle than x-lax. Have tried x-lax once.....never again. |

I know this is a little strange also, but if I have those "issues" I take two xtra Vitiam C pills, two xtra in the morning then two more after dinner. Helps, a lot. Without all the um "gassy" or "bloated" feelings. Works wonders.
Info for it:
Daily use of 500 mg vitamin C and 400 mg magnesium can prevent constipation. If symptoms do occur, each dosage can be increased by 100 mg a day, up to a maximum of 5,000 mg vitamin C and 1,000 mg magnesium. Use of preventive doses should be resumed after relief occurs, and vitamin C should be decreased to the pre-diarrhea dosage if the patient develops diarrhea |
