I just weighed in after my first week on Phase 1 and I am only down 1.5 pounds. The weird thing is that I weighed myself on day 3 and I was down 3 pounds.
I decided to leave WeightWatchers because I was sick of counting points and after having lost 16 pounds on it last year, quitting smoking and then gaining 18 pounds, I tried it again recently for 5 weeks and it just didnt seem to work for me the second time around.
Phase 1 has been incredibly hard for me as I am a sugar junkie but I have not had ANY sugar or ANY bread, pasta, grains, etc. . .
I have been eating about 3 eggs in the am, a part skim cheese stick as a mid morning snack, a salad with tuna or crab salad on it for lunch, some nuts in the afternoon and whatever lean meat with veggies I can think up for dinner.
I think that my problem may be that in the evening as I am watching TV, I snack non stop. I have a SF jello, then a SF posicle, then some hot cocoa with unsweetened cocoa and a splenda, then some more nuts. I think I stay pretty close to the 75 calories of sugar free sweets though.
Any advice would be really helpful!
If it helps, I started last week weighing 150 and want to get to about 128 |

I'm new to this too but it sounds like you need to get active. Instead of sitting on the couch binging (even on SF foods), try going for a long walk. Not sure if that would help but it certainly can't hurt.
Good luck! |

If you are only eating 3 eggs at breakfast, you're not eating according to SB principles. Where are your veggies or V-8? You can't exist on protein alone.
What's in your tuna and crab salad?
How many nuts for the afternoon snack?
What is your portion of meat with dinner? 3 oz? 6 oz? 9 oz?
You're definitely killing yourself with your night-time snacking. Get yourself a big glass of ice water! I agree with shyjade, get that butt up off the sofa and get moving. |

To tell the truth, ever since starting SB, I haven't had the energy to do all the excercising that I had been doing for months. I could barely bring myself to get out of bed in the morning.
As for the tuna and crab salad,
tuna, I had on its own in water for 2 days, with light mayo and garlic powder another, the crab with mayo and hard boiled eggs.
I have the 15 nuts that I am allowed.
There were a couple of days that I did have more than 75 carlories of sugar free stuff like sugar free reese pieces.
I am really trying to stay positive but am a little discouraged.
Thanks for all the advice. Oh and on the veggies with breakfast, I just dont like V8 and cant come up with anything else that seems natural at breakfast. |

But you see... if you don't have your veggies or V-8 with breakfast, for all intents and purposes you're not doing SB. It would be like doing the grapefruit diet but eating cherries because you don't like grapefruit. Make sense? |

I was pretty lethargic for the first couple days of SB also, but then I got a burst of energy and things have been going well since then... hopefully you should snap out of it soon. Maybe try adding some beans to your diet. The roasted chick peas are a great munchy snack that might kill two birds with one stone!
I have to echo the other posters here... you have to add more veggies... to every meal. It is funny what ends up feeling "natural" after a while. All that means is what habits you have developed. It used to feel natural for me to eat lots of white carbs and feel stuffed or deprived depending on the day... I made an omelet the other day and had run out of veggies... it didn't feel "natural" to NOT have veggies with my breakfast!
Don't get discouraged... check out some of hte journals or the recipe section to get some ideas for different veggies to try... you might find something new that you will love!!!
Good luck! |

Don't get discouraged. Everyone is different and I know my weight can vary by several pounds according to the time of day.
I don't have a copy of the book yet so I may be wrong, but I've been having either broccoli, red or green peppers and/or onions cooked in olive oil with eggs for breakfast. It seems like it fits in with the posted guidelines.
I know there are times when I just don't want to get up and exercise, but then I remember how great it felt to be in shape and how fantastic it was to actually hear someone make a comment or to know that someone was checking me out.
I can't wait to get back there. |
