Okay..I've been on Atkins for year now, and decided to try something new.. I have a few questions for the veterans. First off.. Where the hell do you find Low-Fat Feta and Motzerrella cheese? You really don't in my neck of the woods.. Can we have onions? Is Mayo okay? What about Salad dressings. Which are okay? Can we put Almonds on our salad? Sour cream..do or dont? Vegetable oil do or don't? What about condiments? Which ones can we have? There are so many things that the book leaves out that I'm having a hard time with them all.. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Any cheese with 6 or fewer grams of fat per serving is OK. Part-skim mozarella should meet this criteria.

Please read the Phase 1 FAQ at the top of this forum. It includes the current lists of food to enjoy and to avoid, and will answer many of your questions.

Not sure where your neck of the woods is but here goes:

LF Mozzarella - Kraft makes a 2% Mozzarella, I think it says part-skim
LF Feta - find this near the deli with the specialty/import cheeses
Onions - onions are unlimited now
Mayonaise - LF or regular mayo is allowed, not FF b/c of added sugars
Salad dressings - You don't have to follow the book and have oil and vinegar, you can have any salad dressing that has 3g of sugar or less, 14g of fat or less, and is made from "good" oil, ie not partially hydrogentated....
Almonds- great to add to salads, limit to 15 whole almonds
Sour cream - like mayonaise, LF is best, avoid regular or FF, I think there may be a limit on this, 2T maybe
vegetable oil - I want to say no on this, stick to canola and olive oils, but you may need a second opinion for this one
Condiments - LF mayo, mustard, horseradish sauce, I can't believe it's not butter spray, smart balance spread, check recipelover's sticky on the food and recipe forum for homemade recipes for sauces etc...

And yes, check Kimboroni's FAQ section at the top of this forum. I promise it will answer some if not all of your questions and even answer questions that you didn't know you had.

Good luck and enjoy the transition into this healthy WOE.
