Natural Peanut Butter Rescue

I have had natural peanut butter sitting in my fridge for more than a month. It is a relic of my Phase 1 attempt from Jan 20th. Anyway, I put some of this peanut butter on celery sticks and (it was awful). Basically I could have gotten the same effect by stuffing shelled peanuts into the celery trough. Needless to say, that natural peanut butter has been sitting in my fridge, unloved, since then.

Tonight I thought I'd give the peanut butter another try, but this time I added a packet of Splenda to 2T of the peanut butter and It Was GREAT!!!! I know I have read this many times before but I thought I would post it again:

If you liked regular peanut butter but can't stand the natural peanut butter add some sugar replacement. I added 1 packet of Splenda to 2T of Natural PB but you can add whatever sugar replacement you like.

After this I think I might give celery and PB another try!

Funny I got on and read this...After I had the SAME thought today *lol* My hubby was complaing about how much better "bad" PB is. So, I told him next time with his toast I would add a lil splenda. He was also happy cause I found a natural PB that had lil bit of peanuts in it. He was so happy about that, as he doesn't like smooth.

Anywho...great minds think alike!!

LOL, those ads change depending on the topic you are looking at, I've noticed that many times before. I think some sort of program is running and it inserts the main word into the ad. Don't know much about computer programs. Maybe someone else has some idea why it does that. Yesterday, for me, the ads ranged from wasabi peas to buckwheat.

What about the Skippy carb smart peanut butter? Is that okay for Ph 1?

The only recommended PB for SB is the 100% natural. You should see only peanuts and salt on the ingredient list (or just peanuts if you get the sodium free version). It is basically just your nut allowance in a different form, as a spread. Any PB whose oils stay in suspension at room temps probably have trans-fats in them somewhere. The "carb-friendly" PBs also usually have a long list of unpronounceable ingredients. They don't really fit in with the minimally processed guidelines for SB. I personally could never go back to those kinds of PBs. I made a PB/honey sandwich for my DD last week for a school field trip and mistakenly licked the knife after I was done. Man that was just gross!!!

There was another thread on this exact subject and according to that thread skippy carb smart has partially hydrogenated oil in it which is a no no. So I think the answer is no, anyone else have an opinion?

I'm sorry that you guys aren't enjoying the natural peanut butter! I was really skeptical about the whole thing...and the first time I tried it knew that it would take some getting used to. But now I'm 45 days into SB, and after week 1 or so, realized that I LOVE natural pb. I don't think I'll ever switch back. My problem is that I run the risk of eating too much of it. Ha. But I guess that's the beauty of everyone having different taste buds! But I'm glad the splenda helped!

I looked at it in the store tonight and that is indeed the case, plus it's ingredients list reads like an A to Z for preservatives and additives... with natural it's usually peanuts and salt, and that's it. And you can even get it without the salt.
